Looks stock

As per the rules.  You can add a hood scoop and a small spoiler at the rear and that's it.

… and a few mechanical enhancements it seems :D

Firm, you’ll appreciate this one. Think I can count on one hand how many crew cab S-series trucks I’ve seen. The proportions were a bit odd that’s for sure. This is the GFX edition (trim mostly) and in great shape. Even around here most S10’s/Sonoma’s I see are rusted pretty bad. This one survived.

I always found the Chev/GMC twin mid-size trucks/SUVs (Blazer, Jimmy) to be handsome vehicles. I had a buddy in university who had a 2005 Blazer (2 door) and it was a sweet truck. He bought it new for <$20k (I think that was their final year).

Yeah, those 4-door units were oddities...I like the functionality of them, but the proportions are terrible compared to the regular pickups, or even the Blazer/Jimmy. Looks really clean though, definitely a rare find.

IFGC - 2005 was the final year, they only offered the 2-door Jimmy/Blazer (no pickups, no 4-door suvs), and they did blow them out at really aggressive prices. Similar to your story, I recall a buddy of mine buying a brand new one, straight base with manual windows, 5-speed, for sub $20K. At the time, that was a great price for a 4x4 SUV with the reliable (and capable, for the time) 4.3L.

Base price was apparently $26k and there were some nice incentives. I remember the local dealer having tons of two door Blazers in stock back in the early '00s.

The 2 door Blazers were certainly much nicer than the base 2 door Wranger Sport for similar money.

Ditto - I remember the pretty good-looking 2-door Blazers being sold new at high discounts. Fast-forward today, and they're on BaT:

^ That one is actually a 2WD which I've only ever seen a handful of in Canada.

Fond memories for me given that the first 200K I drove was mostly in my 2WD ZQ8 Sonoma, so I'll always view the s-series trucks with some rose colored glasses. They drove pretty well, the ZQ8 trucks handled shockingly well, looked great, were the 'right' size for a lot of uses, and I always found them really comfortable.

Objectively though; they didn't hold up well, cosmetically or mechanically. Body rot was a big issue, moreso than other vehicles of the era, and while the drivetrains were solid (especially the 4.3L) everything else tended to fall part...Which put a lot of them into beater status pretty quick. So there really isn't many left.

The Blazer to have, IMO, is the Blazer Xtreme - which was US only, but had the ZQ8 suspension bits + plus the Xtreme appearance kit.

Ha, thats funny, I'm on the exact opposite side of the spectrum, for me, the S10 Blazer to have is the ZR2, always thought they looked great

My dad had an 84 or 85 two door in the classic GM brown on light brown scheme of the 1980s when we first came to Canada. It looked cool, the 2.8 V6 was one of the worst engines to ever be fitted to a vehicle, I don't know what cretin thought that engine was good enough for a vehicle of that size. Anyways, his had bigger tires and a slight lift, as a 10 year old kid, I thought it was the cats pajamas.
Lighten up Francis.....

A buddy at work had one years ago, he loved the way it drove but the reliability gave him fits. I rode with him once and all his lights would just randomly go off on the highway, somewhat terrifying. The GM dealer in town seemed to charge him $2000/month fixing various things but they never could sort the lights. I pointed him to a good indy I knew and that guy traced it to some broken wiring in the steering column

Eventually he traded it in for a Tacoma, but he had good memories of that truck overall

The Typhoon was technically a Blazer?

Yes....yes it definitely was, but to me, thats a whole other animal, that I love, cherish and want to have in my life. A Typhoon, Syclone, CTS-V wagon, and a Buick GNX would be all in my "when GM did cool :censor:" collection if I hit the 6/49.

My brother in law has the extreme S10. It’s a neat little truck but he found it to be a bit underpowered. It now has a 6.0 LS V8 and a 4L80E transmission.

Years back I bought a Syclone off eBay. There was no body left under the plastic cladding and four of six connecting rods were bent. Was a massive disappointment as the truck looked great in photos.

This was the only picture I took. He was doing some body work last I saw of it. The swap is very clean, maintaining fuel injection, electronic transmission control, and A/C (which wasn’t set up when I took the pic)

LS swap is really common for late model S10s, and now days you can buy kits that make it basically plug & play...Find a 5.3 or 6.0 GMT800 donor with a rotten body, and buy one of the swap kits (wire harness, mounts, some brackets, etc) and you can pull off a very clean, factory-like swap without spending a ton of money (certainly <$10K).

I've been tempted to do it, maybe some day when I have more time and a shop to work in.
