Cant get over the top dog engine max tow package, it consists of the 350 V8 with 4bl carb rated at 165hp, 3;73 limited slip rear, 4 speed automatic overdrive with HD cooling, and the HD rad and engine oil cooler. Towing in the 80's must have been fun with 165Hp!

Cool site! Loads of info there. It certainly doesn't feel underpowered around town or on the highway. This one has a 155L fuel tank too, enough to probably get over 1000k to a tank. Good thing gas is at 89c right now, only cost me $98 to fill!

I love this thing - what a throwback. I need one in my life at some point.

I'm sure when you're ready, rev will be ready...maybe he'll take that T/A in trade.  ;D

that's still pretty low compared to today's engines...a modern 5.7L V8 today will have around 400 lb ft of torque today.

Very cool!  I wonder if you can still get those adapters that allow you to play muscic from a digital player/smartphone through the cassette deck.  It would be a shame to mess up the original radio/cassette.

Yep, there's a tape deck adapter! Still have to suffer through the pathetic sound of tiny little factory speakers. This one has the "upgrade sound" with 4! speakers.

I agree, it would be a shame to lose the factory original system, lousy as it may be.

This old Suburban is a blast. It attracts an unbelievable amount of attention. I've never had a vehicle get so many thumbs up's, picture takers, and people wanting to chat. Totally didn't expect this much love for an old wagon.

I gave it a good power polish this morning too, really brought the shine out of the paint (which is getting thin in some spots).

While I totally get the love for the ‘burban, I really, really want a Grand Wagoneer.

Go see the Wagonmaster! Those things can bring obscene amounts of money, some of wagonmasters units dip in the 6 figures, Right now his priciest is $89,000 USD. I too love the Grand Wagoneers, I had a chance to buy a 91 years ago that was in excellent shape aside from some flaking clearcoat and sun faded woodgrain (was a Arizona truck), owner drove it to Canada and didn't want to pay for the inspection costs. He wanted $1,500 which I did not have at the time.

Got the Burb home! Now it gets to spend some time in the garage waiting for spring. Cool to have everything from the brochure to the original dealer keytag all the way back from 84. It's an absolute joy to drive and beside a new Suburban, quite small!

How did I miss this thread? Looks awesome. I like the yellow. The only better colour combo would have been the two tone brown/tan. Does it have an 8 track?

A friend of mine has one  in brown/tan that's in similar condition, he uses it to tow his Lotus Cortina

@ KTM, does not have a 8 track (factory AM/FM tape) but has a snazzy CB radio instead.

Picked this little Mazda Protege 5 at the dealer auction for a whopping $200. Was traded in at a local Mazda store. At $200 I knew there was something not right with the car (I bought it online) but what the hey, I've spent that kind of money on worse things. I go out Friday to pick it up, was a good -17 with a wind, the car fired right up but idled like garbage. It made the ~100 km trip home without any issues, it did feel underpowered somewhat and a bit boggy, there was a check engine light present as well. After getting my scanner plugged in it tossed a P0401 code, a EGR malfunction. A quick look on the Mazda forums finds this issue is super common, the EGR valve gets stuck up with carbon and causes the driveability issues I experienced.

Well, it only took me about 1/2 hour to get that valve out, 20 min to clean it and get it moving freely again, and about 2 hours to re-intall. Fun job as you cant see what your doing and there is very limited space to work, I couldn't get the first bolt started, a real PITA to do. I got it all done and the little car runs amazingly well. I'd bet it was a one owner car, the interior is mint, everything works great, drives very well with no strange noises or issues, only downside is the Mazda rust got to the fenders and rear 1/4's pretty bad. It really is a fun little car to drive!

Now to find someone who wants a decent little car (with winters on) for $850 and I'll be happy!

Those were great driving cars! I found the interiors better than it's competitors at the time as well. Shame about the rust.

My sister had one in yellow.  Was a fantastic car, rust aside.  My BiL hit a deer with it and wrote it off.

Oh man. I loved my 02 P5. A Miata with a hatch.

Fun fact. The Protege and it's variants won every single C&D comparison they were entered.

I remember talking to my mechanic after he installed new shocks. "Wow, this thing is  a sports car"

Nice one. If I hadn't just bought the Tercel I might have been interested for the kids.
