Nice! An uncle of mine bought one new when I was a kid. A '79 Scottsdale 2wd with the tow pkg. 2-tone Burgundy with tan on the sides, caramel vinyl interior, basic 350/auto setup with three bench seats. Thing was a lemon, always in the shop  ;D

I grew up with a Sub. my Granddad's 1978 "estate" version (same yellow with woodgrain sides) Many fond memories riding in the very back of that truck. This is a very nostalgic purchase for me!

This is a 1983 Chrysler New Yorker, it's a Mark Cross edition making it the absolute top of line K-based New Yorker. I've had it for a few years now, it came from the neighbor of the original owner. He inherited it when she passed away at 94, the car hadn't been driven or registered since 1998. He brought it back to life and let his Daughter drive it for a few years. It has the pesky 2.6 Mitsubishi astron "silent shaft" 4 cyl, I have a receipt from 1995 for a compete rebuild done in Tempe Arizona (car was supposedly bought new there). That said it still runs well. Interior has seen better days, the headliner is junk and the leather is cracking but all the power options work. This is also a EVA equipped car, loves to chat about seatbelts, doors that are "ajar" and low washer fluid.

Might make a good candidate for a beater rally some day. It is relatively rare as the 83's were the only year for the tailamps and Mark Cross (until the package was re-introduced in the new style 88's).

A friend of mine had one about 25 years ago, we called it the "K-car-Cadillac".    He fell asleep on the way home after a busy night-shift and bounced it off the side of a bridge.

Got the Burb home! Now it gets to spend some time in the garage waiting for spring. Cool to have everything from the brochure to the original dealer keytag all the way back from 84. It's an absolute joy to drive and beside a new Suburban, quite small!

Time capsule!

Pretty well preserved. Everything is stock right down to the radio/tape deck unit. I even have the receipts for the dealer "add ons" from new, the deluxe running boards, fog lamps, and CB radio. Customer labor rate back then? $29 per hour!

Cant get over the top dog engine max tow package, it consists of the 350 V8 with 4bl carb rated at 165hp, 3;73 limited slip rear, 4 speed automatic overdrive with HD cooling, and the HD rad and engine oil cooler. Towing in the 80's must have been fun with 165Hp!

Very cool!  I wonder if you can still get those adapters that allow you to play muscic from a digital player/smartphone through the cassette deck.  It would be a shame to mess up the original radio/cassette.

It would have had almost as much torque as a modern V8, especially down low.

Yep, there's a tape deck adapter! Still have to suffer through the pathetic sound of tiny little factory speakers. This one has the "upgrade sound" with 4! speakers.

I agree, it would be a shame to lose the factory original system, lousy as it may be.
