Photos working for me now....weird. That C4 looks great!
I am actually going to check out a 95 C4 this week....any pointers? I've never owned one before...
Big issue with the LT1 is the optispark. When the water pump leaks they damage the distributor that lives UNDER it. The distributor has no vent so they trap moisture (GM fixed this in 95 or 96 iirc) Damage can come apparent months after the waterpump gets replaced so owners often don't associate the poor running with previous water pump leaks. I bought a billet accel unit for less than the cost of a GM replacement.
These things rattle and creek like a old city bus
They run hotter than a normal SBC like what you have been used to in the Camaro/Firebird. They're supposed to, they are reverse flow coolers. I recall freking out the first hot day with the temp gauge climbing quite high before the fans kicked on,
Check the heater core! These cars don't often get used in cold weather and ofen the heaters have never been used. I turned on my heater one day and got a nasty spray of steam. BIG job to replace!
All in all these are just typical Chevy, interiors are el-cheapo deluxe and electrics can be fussy. Mechanically they're pretty darn easy to wrench on. The big clamshell hood really helps (plugs are a bit of a pain) They are reliable too, never had a big issue with mine (after replacing the opti) Decent highway cars capable of eating up miles in comfort.
Join a Corvette club and autoX it. Lotsa fun! Our Calgary club rocked, plenty of gatherings and events. Surprisingly not all old men with chest hair and gold chains! I was 29 when I bought this and was still not the youngest member.
The bodys crack easily. I got a crack in the door from my kid slamming it really hard
Don't buy a black one unless all you want to do is clean it. They are not a weekend power polish type friendly car. Fiberglass requires a certain finesse, I learned the hard way.
