So the gazillion mile Caravan (sitting at 629,700 now) had it's first major issue. Yesterday brought our first decent snowfall, seems the van did not like. Every Time I'd press the brake pedal all the electronics save for the lights would shut down, heater, radio, wipers, all gone. Turn the van off and restart all was fine again...until the brake pedal was touched. Spent a bit taking stuff apart, at first I figured it was in the ignition switch area as there is a loud click when depressing the brake to release the shift lock. All in there looked normal enough so I was left to think again. Figured it had to have something to do with moisture, so I checked all the fuse panels which all turned out dry. While under the hood I noticed this van has a few extra wires running about for a command start (I have no fobs for it but the blue light still blinks on the dash so it must be connected) Anyway, I yanked the wire off the batt post and all is well! Very odd...
My son just informed me it did this to him too, during a rainstorm, no wipers so he just left it at home and borrowed mom's truck. So definitely moisture and command start related. Oh well, it's fixed, put nearly 10,000km on it now and one oil change is all the money spent so far!
