Escort ZX2 ! Yup, been a few years since I've seen one. A really clean find!

Great shape. I almost bought one at an auction a few months back that was slightly less nice than that but stick shift. Ultimately I passed since it was brown (yuck) but that red paint appears to be still very shiny. Must have been one that lived in a garage.

Holy crap man, I haven't seen one of those in....years at least. Can't believe the shape its in, usually those were all used, abused and discarded a long time ago.
Lighten up Francis.....

Was one owner (a lady) and it comes with great service history from the same garage. Just so odd these days to see someone keep a car this long. Was traded for a new Hyundai, so she might not get 25 years out of that one!

I always love finding disposable cars that have been preserved. It’s easy to find a pristine sports or specialty vehicle. I bet to this cars owner it WAS a sports car worth keeping nice!

Yeah, I agree, finding a pampered, garage kept, wiped with unicorn mane, exemplary service record 911 Turbo is easy, a Ford Tempo/Pontiac 6000/Plymouth Sundance, good luck.

Ford had some interesting styling back then. There's a 90's Taurus wagon in our neighborhood, something like this

Looks like it just came out of the factory. God help me I can't help but admire it every time I walk by

The Ford jelly beans, a major misstep for Ford. Too bad that red one was an auto.

Nice find! Most of those met their demise at the hands of highschool / university students in the mid 2000's here, can't remember the last time I saw one.

Haha, I had one of those for a few years as a company car.  It was a 99 i believe and it was a pretty good car for the time, and my first car with a remote key fob.  Comfortable and just about the strongest hvac system I ever encountered.  It was no looker though, and even uglier in white, which is what mine was. Nicknamed it The Whale. ;D

IQ had one of these until the boy was 2+. Was her sole car. Hers was a stick though. Got her and the baby everywhere they needed with no fuss. Nothing ever broke, either.

Hers was a really red red.

By the way you described it I thought it could be her car such was the condition.

Was a bit disappointed it wasn't!

Here's an excellent story about the ZX2.  People forget this is similar to a Protege.

Remember these? Hard to believe it’s 25 years old. Think most dissolved by now. This one is a survivor with zero rust and 137k. It’s really clean, someone really loved it.

They make good looking race cars.  This one belongs to Ashton Hudson, of Dallas, Texas.  Powered by a 296 cubic inch V8, it has run 8.30s at over 160 mph.

Looks stock

As per the rules.  You can add a hood scoop and a small spoiler at the rear and that's it.
