Reminds me of the Iraqi Taxis.  A friend of mine's father bought one cheap back in the day.  Talk about bare bones.

http://www.curbsideclassic.com/blog/automotive-history-snapshot-1981-chevrolet-malibu-iraqi-taxi/

Only about half of the order was ever shipped, as Iraq suddenly cancelled the order in 1982. Some excuses were given, including that drivers were having a hard time shifting the Saginaw three-speed. Apparently that wasn’t all just BS, as GMCL techs did identify and rectify (in Iraq) a problem with the clutch release.  Perhaps more likely, the cancellation was the consequence of hard currency tightness due to Iraq’s war with Iran at the time.

In any case, the remaining 12,500 Iraqi Taxis were sold to Canadians at a hefty discounted price of about $6800. A fair number are still around, and often referred to as an “Iraqibu”.

I took driver's ed in a 1979 Malibu sedan with a V6.  All that glass made it easier than hell to park.

I'd love to find one of those! One popped up on Kijiji a few years back for $1500. I looked at it, the rear frame was completely rotted out and the 3.8 leaked oil like crazy. Sadly I doubt many are left as the frame rot got most of these G bodies off the road 15 years ago.

Last time I was in BC I left a F150 behind that I had sold to a dealer. I was stuck for a ride back, I've done this before and usually pick up a rental to get home. This time I put my feelers out on Kijiji for a Alberta registered car I could buy in BC and drive back to AB. Had a few reply's to my Ad, a RHD Subaru WRX (hard no) a old rusty Dodge Dakota, a Honda Odyssey, and then this, a 2007 Cobalt SS Supercharged. Belonged to a girl who had transferred to Kelowna. It had brand spanking new winter tires, struts, windshield, and ran great. It had door issues which was the final straw for her, both the drivers and passengers were not working properly (pass side wouldn't open AT ALL) the drivers side was sticky and the panel was falling off. Both were extremely easy fixes and cost nothing, just time and some WD40. GM interiors at their worst can be seen right here.

Was a fun little ride home. The S/C 2.0 pulls nice and got around 7L/100km on the trip back. A pretty decent handling car for being a FWD. Still, not my style of car, I'm too old for cars like this. If I had to have one, I'd find the very rare 4 door Turbo Cobalt, think only 500 or so were built. This would be a decent car for a young guy who wants to tinker with a good handling, forced induction car. With a few things fixed, cleaned up, and serviced it's time to sell this true "SS" Chevy!

I love that you bought a car to get home.

They were supposed to be decent handlers too.

I'll be the cheapest boosted SS in Alberta at asking of $3700 (OBO of course). Plenty of n/a SS models cheaper but they come with the wheezy 2.4 and most are autos. The turbo SS from 08-on fetch bigger money. In my research I found out they were the first car under 50K to have launch control and no lift shift. The SS also made one heck of a showing in Car & Drivers lightning lap in 2008, they were very impressed.

Very cool, this was one of my favourite cars in Need for Speed Most Wanted. I was trying to locate an Alberta registered vehicle when leaving Kelowna.

Besides the hub caps that looks very nice. It is a stick shift?

I'd be tempted to pick that up for myself but I'd have to shift the TSX first.

Are those hub caps? Looks like cheap imitation three piece wheels but still alloy wheels.

Yes they are el-chepo caps. Just for the winter wheels, it has the nicer factory 18" for summer.

Barn find!! Very straight, shows 26,999km. 88 Suzuki Samarai. More to come on this little guy, he's in a barn in the Okanagan, might be a few weeks till I'm able to fish it out.

Awesome! Those are building quite a following, and to find one that isn't rotten or heavily modified at this point is extremely rare. That looks like it's going to clean up really nicely too.
