I had the Ram parked on the lower boulevard portion of my driveway (section after the sidewalk) last weekend; I don't usually do it, or if I do I park it parallel so it's not overhanging the road or the sidewalk. However, on this day I had it parked straight ahead, so it was overhanging the sidewalk considerably....

Anyway, buddy down the street (there's only one guy who whines about my parking situation) called it in. The parking guy rolls up (young guy; muscle and tattoos) while I was out in the driveway, puts his window down and says "Hey, someone complained about your truck blocking the sidewalk....I am not gunna ticket you because you've got so much cool :censor: here....just roll the truck back a foot". So I did....and left it like that for a couple days just for shits.

I have a LONG driveway, can fit a Yukon XL and crew cab pickup end to end with max capacity of 4. Only ever had an issue with my son parking too close to the crosswalk once and my dumb Eagle Talon that popped itself out of gear and rolled onto the street (I blamed crankwalk) Someone had to call that in instead of just knocking on the door letting me know my (unplated as it hardly ever ran more than a few weeks at a time) car was in the middle of the road.

If I park super tight I can get 2 'average' sized cars end to end on the upper part, and then another two average cars fit well on the boulevard apron area (which, apparently is legal in my neighborhood, as long as the sidewalk is clear). It's just the trucks that screw it up for me...

Here's something more interesting than that boring Highlander: I found another Audi 5000 Turbo. Finding these is next to impossible, I've been casually searching all over Canada and the US for years, particularly for someone parting one out. Owner posted it awhile back, he was in Edmonton and the car was not running so I kept telling myself I didn't need it. Well the owner messaged me Thursday saying if it doesn't go by Friday its off to the scrap yard, couldn't let that happen! So I borrowed a nice car trailer and off I went, 700KM round trip.

Car is from California. Was left in an estate by it's original owner and the inheritor imported it into Canada in 2011. After passing all inspections etc it was legally registered in Alberta. When it wouldn't start one day the owner gave up. I fixed it in about 30 min, the starter wire had worn through and was shorting out on the starter itself. After a repair to the wire the Car fired right up and runs and drives absolutely amazing, all the options work including the A/C. The mileage difference between my black 5000 and this is close to 500,000 km, mine has 32,000 miles and this one just under 337,000 (equates to about 547,000 km)

The car was well loved and in pretty darn good shape for a 38 yr old vehicle. Rust is absent but the clear coat is flaking on the hood/roof. I found a log the original owner kept, he wrote down the mileage every time he drove it, noted every single gallon of fuel and quart of oil/part and repair made. It went back to 2006.....wish I had the older logs!

I bought this as a parts car. I need a few things for my other 5000T. I just can't bring myself to pulling stuff off this car though, been driving it all day and it just runs and drives so well.

Over 500,000km....thats a whole hell of a lot of miles but sounds like the previous owner was the exact kind of person you would want to buy a high mileage car from.
Lighten up Francis.....

Nice find. Looks in fantastic shape especially for the miles. Can you swap some parts between the two cars? The low mileage getting the better without killing that one?

that's what I'm trying to figure out. Two big things my black car needs is a left fender (thanks to my boy's buddy who slightly damaged it by backing into it) and the turbo.....the seals have gone out on mine and it smokes like a sonuvagun. I'm thinking to get my turbo rebuilt as I can't find a used one.

Wow, that looks amazing for the mileage on it! This is much more interesting than the Highlander  ;D

So awhile back a good friend (and collector vehicle nut) was spouting off about this old Suburban a gentleman in his 80's was trying to sell. Told him its worth buying if in good shape. Got to see it today....well I won't rest until it's in MY driveway! Haven't seen such a clean original square body Burban in ages, only used in summer and one owner since new in 1983.

Technically not mine yet, but he said it all mine when he gets tired of it (he doesn't keep anything too long) I can't wait! Best news is it's even Wife approved as all the kid's can fit in it!

That is awesome! I'd kill for a clean square body burban. In fact, I like these more than the Grand Wagoneers of the same era, and I like Wagoneers a lot!

Really wish it was a different color though, I guess it's period correct and it does stand out lol.

Well, the colours are ugly enough you could family truckster it. Get some wood grain applique for the sides...8 or so headlights (LED upgrades of course)...hit the old JC Whitney catalog and go nuts!

Yes, that is great! Don’t think I’ve ever seen one in that yellow, though.  :-\

A co-worker bought one a few years ago. I think it was an ‘85, and that dark blue & silver two tone. It wasn’t exactly mint, but was in great shape and had less than 100,000 km on it, IIRC. It had spent its life as a medevac/ambulance unit at a gas plant in the middle of nowhere.

And my uncle had one when I was growing up, also that blue/silver and maybe an ‘82 or ‘83? We used to borrow it to go dirt biking. You could hang wheel holders off those old metal bumpers - we’d put a bike on the front, a bike on the back, and toss the little Honda 50 in the cargo area.

I love the old Suburbans. I also love the tires on them. 235/75R15, IIRC, which seemed pretty big, back in the day.  :rofl2:

Very cool - embrace the awful colour - beats the hell out of the ubiquitous blandness of today’s vehicles!

Looking at GM's color portfolio for these trucks in the 80's was interesting. You could mix and match plenty of colors, 33 two-tone combo's in total and 22 solid tones! I think the modern Sub offers 8 choices and they mostly are grey/silver. tan, one red, and black.

Yep, of all the choices one could have the yellow/tan still would have been at the bottom of my list.
