the only thing it has going for it is the long power train warranty, but other than that there is so much better options out there for close to the same money or slightly more but much superior vehicles in every way.

0-100 kmph in 14 seconds! - wouldn't want to have to accelerate onto the 401 from an on-ramp, particular one that might have a slight incline.

Get a good used car.  This whole "warranty" business is unfortunate - trading safety for the sake of "cheap" just to get a new car... Not for me. ... And if it's all you can afford, you should probably consider not owning a money pit (ie all cars)

Sorry....at $9 or 10k the little hatchback almost made sense. At almost $20k, sorry Mitsu, no, not by a longshot,

That things a rocket compared to my old 1986 Westfalia camper.  ;D
It was water cooled and considerably faster than the air cooled Westies, but it was still REALLY slow.  For some strange reason I enjoyed driving it.

Mirage is the worst car I can remember driving.  Just awful.  Micra is 1000x better - similar price.  Just the fact that Mitsu sell this car shows they've basically given up.

Yes the last micra sedan kind of looked similar. The original echo sedan was a real looker to. :-\
It had lots of interior room though.

The sedans is this class are so terribly proportioned.
Carmakers should only make hatchbacks for minis and superminis, and not even bother with sedans. Even cars like the Ford Fiesta look bad in sedan form.

The newer Yaris sedan doesn't look bad minus the front end. It looks like a mini mazda 3.

I understood the point of the Mirage when it was $9999 + dest + tax. Cheap A to B that won't bust your budget with unexpected repair costs. At 20 grand though? Anyone who considers it over a base Rolla or Elantra should be examined by a medical professional IMHO.  :P

i think the scoring is a bit off... some things fail... and engine in this puppy is one of the worst out there.

anyway... just chiming in to agree... why get this car? no reason other than a warranty. and from the classic movie tommy boy;

Ted Nelson: But why do they put a guarantee on the box?

Tommy: Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of :censor:. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me.

The base Corolla now comes with active safety with radar cruise.  The base Corolla comes with an engine designed for a car, not a lawn tractor.  A base Corolla will be worth a substantial percentage of it's purchase price in four years - not $3.00.

Mitsubishi is just phoning it in now.

Not to me, but i prefer sedans.

With the crappy showroom they have these days I thought that the dealership I service my Outlander at will go out of business at some  point but in speaking with the service manager which I've known for a long time it seems like they are doing all right. I think the average car buyer's mind works in funny ways.

I agree that the sub-compact sedans look disproportionate in most cases regarless the manufacturer.
