What if you make a play list?

That works - but I want to just get in the car and start playing music without mucking about with the phone - accessing the playlist, etc.  If I do that, it just streams my entire library.

I guess if one button push is too much effort....

Dude...make like easy.  Buy a $10 bluetooth transmitter for the AUX plug.

Thing is, most of my music is on my mp3/Hi-Res player that doesn't have Bluetooth.  So that's not gonna work.

So you couldn't put the bluetooth jack into your MP3 player or daisy chain the MP3 player to your phone with a short cord...then play tunes through your phone?

And by "phone" I meant calls only. Not music.. Pretty sure it's doesn't have the ability to play music.  I'll look into it tomorrow.

Yea.  You turn bluetooth "ON" in your phone (hoping your phone is new enough to have bluetooth!!)...then it will stream whatever to your car stereo if so equipped.  Ideally, you'd transfer all your music files from the MP3 player into your phone.

So what's in the radio?  Is there a selection for CD/Multimedia/External Devices??

Can you do this??

It's a two step process
(first, setting up the Bluetooth pairing, which you've done)

1. select CD/Multimedia -> Bluetooth audio -> connected -> click on your device. But this just establishes the BT input device of choice; it doesn't move the device's music to the speakers

2. CD Multimedia -> External devices -> select your BT device (phone) - this selects the BT device as the audio to play out of the speakers as opposed to, say, FM, since you could have your phone music available but be listening to FM radio, if you so wanted. This second step might be what's missing.

Shocking considering the year and "premium" badge.

If you want bluetooth audio, there's an adapter you can buy from a company called "GROM".  They make adapters for virtually every car.

Otherwise, you could plug the bluetooth jack adapter I mentioned earlier into your console AUX plug and stream music from phone to there.

Speaking of Bluetooth, I haven't been able to link my phone with the car yet.  I've made a few tries.

Bluetooth and old people don't mix.

Yes, it's difficult, even with the instructions in front of me.

Next time you have it serviced at Mazda, have them walk you through it.  Or bug a teenager in the neighbourhood...
