Stopped by the Nespresso boutique in Toulouse a few days ago, a box of 10 capsules costs from 3,50€.

In comparison, it costs twice that in the US. So of course, I grabbed a couple boxes.

I bought jeans, shoes, gifts for parents, and more.....way better quality and style, yet at a lower cost.

Why the **** does stuff just have to cost more on this side of the atlantic?

That's funny, whenever my Mom comes from Barcelona, she spends $1k-2k on clothes because it's cheaper here, especially in the US.  And she comes today for 26 days.

Good thing I don't have Nespresso, I wouldn't pay more for then 50 cents for making my own coffee at home.
I'm the person that will pay for quality, hence why I stick with the Nespresso machine. It makes good café after meals, and the slightly larger portions I drink in the morning. However, it's the same capsules sold at half the price in France.....that starts to grate. I know there's transport costs from la Suisse to US/Canada versus the EU. But geez, double the price........

Nestlé controls the entire sale and price of capsules. While the machines are sold in various places, the capsules can only be bought on their own website or at a boutique. Normally I have to order online because the nearest brick-and-mortar is hundreds of kms away; figured I'd stop by while there already in the centre of Toulouse and wow.....yeah.......what a difference in price.

Kind of like how wine AOC Saint-Émilion normally runs 20-30 $US but in France it's fairly cheap 6-9€ bottle. Yes, I brought a bottle of wine back as well.

My Mom is always getting designer purses, men's golf shirts, jeans, toothbrush heads for the Oral B, stuff for her contact lenses.  It would be a good segment on a show, cost of things from one country to another.

Not true! You can buy them at Amazon. Cheap too..even in Canada. Amazon is an approved Nespresso retailer.

How do I know? Just bought a bunch from Amazon.

At Amazon US, 50 capsules for $35.

That's normal pricing; same as on the Nespresso site. Essentially 0,70 $US a capsule (plus tax and shipping)

Whereas the same box of 10 capsules cost 3,50€, or a cost of 0,35€ a capsule (TVA inclus)

Free shipping from Amazon.

It's a flat rate from Nespresso.

No, their car prices are reasonable as long as you don't get the big motorisations and load it up with luxuries and frills. And I don't need a big motor or luxuries like leather and electric seats.

I looked at vw.fr and it says a Golf starts at 24K Euros which is almost 35K CDN. I'd call that a big difference.

I generally don't take into account much of an FX change. After all, a French person doesn't earn money in Canadian Dollars.

Also, prices in Europe include registration, VAT, and ancillary fees.

Burger places that don't toast the buns.   C'mon people.

I won't eat a burger with a toasted bun.  Or have a toasted sub...

Yep, even at home, toss the bun on the grill for a bit, adds that crunch factor.

When I go to bakery, and buy fresh bread, I don't bring it home to toast it.  Just like fresh buns on my sandwiches and burgers.

I love a burger at a good diner where they toss the bun on the grill so it's both toasted and a little greasy

Had a burger at Ossies's today for lunch and that's the way they do them there!  It was perfect! :lick:
