Damn.....
i know...it looks so stately, even if it's 30 years old.

What would a clean 1987 560SEC be worth? Been offered to me fairly cheap, it a west coast car so the body is great. Its all the real wood trimming inside that needs help.
$10k at least. I've seen them fetch more on BAT. I missed out on a great one 2yrs ago for $6,500.

Really? Didn't think they were worth so much. It's a 1988 BTW. A good friend has it, had it for 10+ years and basically sits unused. Frankly I was scared of it as my knowledge on old Benzes is practically zero (had a 86 300SD once) Might be worth putting some effort into.....Thanks

How cheap? Colour, mileage? I might be interested.

I can have it for 5K. It's dark grey, I don't know the miles though.
Let me know what shape it's in & the mileage if you can, I'm intrigued.

So, I guess this is officially the farewell to this beauty. I enjoyed it while it lasted, but she's going off to retire at her new home in San Francisco soon where she can be driven year round. The buyer is a car guy (one of us!) and daily drives an LS400. He does all of his own work and has been looking long and hard for a minty W126 560.

A sad farewell but comforting to know it is going to a good home.  Hopefully you get visitation rights.

Congrats on the sale. Would have loved to have taken it off of your hands myself.

Good to hear it's going to a car guy who will drive it & enjoy it.
I'm sure you are sad to see it go, but the Aston will probably make you feel better.   ;D

Yeah, it's definitely painful to see it go, but I just can't justify four cars. My fiancée is extremely supportive and was encouraging for the Aston, but something's gotta give...

Could never sell Snowy's S2000, and the LS 430 is the world's most perfect daily driver. That only leaves the 560, which is expensive on maintenance (mostly due to my inability to do any real work on it myself), and barely gets driven anyhow. I think it saw about 750km last summer.

Is the LS 430 your daily? I'm pretty sure I've seen the ex-Ron mobile around...
I love it when a plan comes together.

It's a daily when I don't have a test vehicle, and I leave it behind at automaker head offices when I do. It has small "DoubleClutch.ca" decals in the rear quarter windows, an Erin Park Lexus plate frame, and is riding on non-chrome 17" winter wheels right now. I'm not sure it has any more distinguishing features. Where would you have spotted it / what part of the city are you in?

Great to hear its going to a good home but sad seeing it go I bet....still a damn whole lot classier looking than a lot of "luxury" cars out there available today.
Lighten up Francis.....

That's the one...local Loblaws and Best Buy...pretty sure I spotted that nice 560 last year also (sharp car)

Oh yeah, for sure. The thing is, the LS 430 does everything the 560 does, and it's more reliable. It has the rear heated/reclining seats, soft-close doors, and feels a lot more modern. The Benz looks and feels 1000x cooler in terms of pure sex appeal. It'd be harder to let the 560 go if I didn't have the Lexus.

How did you sell the 560? Just listed it online? Never saw it on BAT? Did you use eBay?

I was planning to list it on BaT in the spring, but I found the right buyer privately, an acquaintance who will treat the car very well for years to come.

baller...shot caller...i've always liked those...they seem to be quite rare (i see the 2 door coupes the odd time, and a few of the 2 door convertible models, but the full on 4 door sedans rarely show up on autotrader.

I know those newfangled AMG mercs are faster and crap....but they have no presence when compared to this.
