Nice write up
I thought  6-4 box was the only box you could get in the XD
I knew a drywaller who had a crew cab with a 8ft box, he did not keep it very long  :rofl2:

I saw one of these in the wild the other day and TBH it looks better in person than it does in pictures.  The one I saw also had the diesel, so I lowered my window to listen to it.  It was pleasantly quiet.  Still obviously a diesel, but it wasn't a loud racket like a Cummins, Powerstroke or Duramax.  Instead it sounded more like a smaller 3.0 Diesel from Mercedes Benz (the one they put in the Sprinter and JGC) or evern the EcoDiesel from the Ram.

I know Cummins developed this engine in conjunction with Nissan, but THIS is the engine they should have put in the Ram 1500 instead of the EcoDiesel, as a way to increase the torque output and towing capacity of the 1500.

If there can be such a thing as a good looking pickup truck, this is surely it.
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

The use of a column-mounted shifter results in a massive centre console, capable of storing a bag of McIntosh apples and a six pack of Gatorade for your road trip. More storage in front of the centre armrest as well as four front-accessible cup holders ensures you can make a mess in short order if you aren’t careful to put things away.

How MANY apples though?  Without knowing how many Apples plus a 6-pack of Gatorade, I have no way of knowing just how large and useful the center console is.
May I propose a new metric for measuring center consoles, to be adopted by all Autos.ca staff writers?  We'd call it the Apple iConsole test.

I wish I had these plans for every truck I test drive but it just isn’t always in the cards. But the Titan XD was subjected to a proper challenge and in the end, it took everything I threw at it like a champion and I was impressed. Of course, the answer to the question everyone has is “13.5 L/100 km”. That was my average fuel consumption on my typical test route. In pure highway driving, I saw an average of 11.5 L/100 km and while towing our heavy trailer it was around 18.5 L/100 km. With the price of diesel currently in the mid-eighty-cent range I was happy with those numbers, as it only cost me about $50 to tow our car from Peterborough to Ottawa and only $75 to fill the 98L tank from empty.

I feel those numbers aren't stellar compared to other half-tons.  Yeah, I know it has more capability, but still.

After the totally awful 1st-gen Titan, one would need to be really brave to drop $75K on one of these instead of a well sorted Ford or GM pickup.
Since October 2015 the Junior PM has been in office.  Record mega-Billion deficits as he p*sses away our future.  An economy gutted. Stinky POTHEADS rejoice. We are going down the drain.

13.5L/100kms is excellent in a truck this size combined.  That it can get 11.5L on highway is really good too.

I dunno.  Doesn't the 5.0 in the Ford get around 8.5-9 on the highway?  I'm sure Chevy's V8's are around that 9 number as well.  11.5L/100km on the highway is pretty bad for an unloaded diesel.  And really, this truck isn't that much more capable than a V8 equipped Ford or Chevy.

I think you'd be very lucky to break 10 L/100 km at highway speeds in any gas full-size truck.

This engine was originally supposed to be the diesel for the Ram 1500, but it's an expensive engine to produce, which put its price close to the Ram 2500, so Chrysler couldn't make the business case for it. They eventually went with the relatively less expensive 3.0L EcoDiesel.

This was around 2007-2008 when GM showed a 4.5L Duramax at SEMA and Ford was considering using the 4.4L Lion diesel in the F150. The 4.5 was shelved but Ford did end up using the 4.4 in some LR products.

This.  On paper it's one thing.

Even our 2013 F150 3.7L does about 10-11 L/100km on the highway unloaded, at 120km/h.

10.7L/100kms for Chev 5.3 and 11.3L/100kms for the Ford 5.0 is their ratings for highway.  These are also for the lowest rear ends.  (3.08 on Chev).  If you get higher rear ends fuel econ will be worse.

Only time I have seen 9 with my truck was at 80 km/hr on level ground , I am usually at 15

A friend does 8 hauling air and 15 hauling his trailer , about 15 ft box trailer in his Ram Ecodiesel

So what Wing was doing was excellent

This, along with what OliverD and greengs just posted above.

And usually those trucks need a higher rear end for maximum towing, so throw the fuel economy rating out the window.

yeah, fuel economy you just want to be in the acceptable range... using more than average fuel is a given and a cost of doing business for most people who are using a truck.

for fun, built a 6.7L cummins ram 1500 Laramie Limited with sunroof... at msrp subtract incentives, 74975. for a more capable truck, proven drivetrain (as proven as anything is these days), and at least as many toys and imo a nicer place to be.... and 0% for 84 months.

so again... nice truck, glad it exists, but i just don't see a case for it... at its current price especially.

**just checked.. so a cash deal gets 5k off... web says it will cost me 72543 (just added the hitch) finance deal gets 3.99% and 2650 off...

so to compare bi-weekly payments on an 84 month term... the nissan, 533.36... the ran 2500 limited, 467...

so 12 grand less for a 2500? hmmm... real tough call.

For the $75K+ this thing costs, no way I would take it before a proven truck like a Duramax.
Lighten up Francis.....
