Much awesomeness to be sure but it makes my eyeballs hurt.
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

Pure comfort and joy!

Not crazy about this particular colour, but at least Lexus offers it.
I love it when a plan comes together.

Not usually a fan of Lexus but I really like this car (color included). It's the last of the naturally aspirated V8 sport sedans (aside from the Chevy SS, which we don't get).

BTW, the first model year for the E39 M5 was 2000, not 1998 as stated in the article.

I actually saw an RC-F with this color yesterday and thought it was one of the most disgusting paint jobs I've ever seen.  It feels like Lexus is trying a riff on BMW's Lime Rock Park Edition orange but it just doesn't work.  BMW found a way to combine a deep orange with tasteful black accents whereas Lexus is combining the color with chrome, making the whole thing look like an orange blob.

Change the window trim and front grille surround to black and then you may have something....

Man, this car is close to the top of my list for dream sedans. Love it.

For whatever reason I kinda dig the Lexus styling on the GS F and the IS. Not a fan of it anywhere else but I do like it here.

* Yes, I drive a 2012 TL so that explains so things  ;D

Japanese sport sedan, a bit large and heavy, torque vectoring rear diff, thinner on torque than its competitors, and MECHA-TRANSFORMER styling, probably quite reliable.

Sounds like the GS-F and the TL AWD are in the same general stream of ideas. One is the logical conclusion and the other is the middle-road affordable version.

Lovely car, dunno about the orange, but lovely car.

I thought the 2UR-GSE 5L V8 has Toyota's D4S injection system (direct and port injection).  The article seems to indicate that it only has direct injection.

Numb steering certainly doesn't seem to fit with the theme here.  I wonder if a different set of tires might just make the difference.

I'm really surprised Lexus isn't offering an AWD variant as it would open up more market to them.

That chrome trim is made weirder by the fact it already has black mirrors and a black spoiler. I'd definitely be plastidipping the chrome trim if I owned one.

Lol!  Eye of the beholder and all that.  ;)

I'm not a fan of the ginormous Predator grille on any model, though to me, the larger the vehicle, the less disproportionately huge that gaping maw looks.  So I can stand it a bit better on the SUVs and the LS and such.

That's really the most enticing part to me.  Not a lot of choice out there for a NA V8 sport sedan these days.

This fits nicely into a sub-M5 class....which is really the ideal level of (dream) sedan IMO.

Maybe I'd feel differently if I had vastly more wealth, but the the uber-sedan class is just beyond bonkers these days:  M5, E63, CTS-V....  I feel like I'd rather have something a little more livable - like 550i, GS F, S6 - and the put the savings into a true sports car beside it in my garage.

For example, a GS-F + MX-5 garage pairing seems like much better targeted bang-for-the-buck than an M5.

I fondly recall Jacob's "enthusiastic parking" in an RC-F painted the same shade of orange...  :rofl2:

Launched in '98 surely? I know we didn't get it until 2000, but Europe was earlier I think.

The steering isn't horrible, just that nobody really offers great steering any more. Oh, and yes, it's direct and port - didn't go into much detail, but the crazier thing about that V8 is that it runs Atkinson cycle on low engine loads for better efficiency. Some clever engineering there.

First shown in '98, entered production in late' 98, on sale here in '99 as a 2000.

That has to be one of the worst styled cars I have ever seen, I'm sorry but I call it as I see it. The colour is just bad. Toyota has hasn't had their mojo since the Supra went out of production in the late 90's. Unlike Austin Powers I don't think they will ever find it again.

Oddly enough, I think there is an argument to be made that the hyper-aggressive styling is better complimented by an outrageous shade such as this.  I mean, would this car even make sense in beige?
