Anyone got an opinion on Epoxy vs floor tiles for the garage? I'd like to DIY it but not sure if I want to deal with the acid etching and all that crap.

My dad was 65ish.  And he did the epoxy himself.  It's not hard at all.

So are you going to DIY tiles then??

We have a Roomba though.

Do you have a dog or cat?

Nope

Good.  You won't have to suffer through the Roomba spreading a hairball or turd all over the floors...

Ha! Never though of that.  Our dog has never sh!t in the house, ever.

There are pictures/videos of people's houses AFTER the Roomba has smeared the stuff everywhere.

Yup.  This one is clas-sic:

I've only ever seen epoxy and looks good in most cases, but a couple of diy jobs not so good.

The stuff I lliked best is the solid grey colour as it's easier to find stuff that falls on the floor than it is with the flecked stuff.

My buddy bought some epoxy from a supplier at work. Its an industrial grade epoxy and has withstood gasoline, brake fluid, pressure washing and him dropping stuff. Any of the crap you get from Home Depot or Rona, don't bother, it will peel up just from cars driving over it.

What you need in your new house mmret is a carefully made nightingale floor.   It would give you months or even years of fun. ( and probably sent you over the edge if it went out of tune)

Today I learned that I have nightingale floors.  ;D

Remove that piece of paper behind the taps. Bet there's a drain there.

Yeah, not sure why they didn't punch it out already. Hopefully they remembered to hook it up to an actual drain.

Maybe they did not want the sewer gasses to come back up into the room

Sewer gasses? I assume there's a trap on the drain, same as every other drain in the house.

Oh, you mean during construction? Guess that makes sense. (On second thought, not really. If there's no water in the trap, then that floor drain is going to be equally nasty.)

This was all put in after the fact during the "where is my 2nd floor laundry?" adventure / fiasco. All done after the house was completed.

I sincerely hope they didn't forget the drain in there. They did mention the trim piece will be provided.
