the GS430 is quite a bit more than the Genesis (Rspec excluded)...

Why are you excluding the R-Spec?  The R-Spec matches most closely a V8 GS430 and M45.

Or is this your Hyundai fan-boy defense kicking into high gear?
i'm excluding the R-spec because there is no such thing as a GS430 and and an M45 anymore...i used the top trim V6 Genesis as the competitors i mentioned are also V6 equipped vehicles so i am trying to keep things on level playing fields...but hey, if you want to use the Rspec version at $63k, that's fine...compare it to top trimmed whatever and it will still be good value (and still gets good reviews).
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

Thanks Ron, Jon and all - the feedback and discussions is helpful.

No doubt I can really totally SEE myself in an LS, whooshing along in silent bliss. :rofl2:
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

Well the R-Spec version is germane to the discussion, because Jaeger wants something with a V8.

Yes...it is a good value. That's why I included it in my car shopping as well.   But for something to be a good value vs. competitors, you either A) Have to cut corners B) Make a revolutionary car with new and more efficient manufacturing processes, design processes, etc. (like the 1990 LS400 vs the German competitors).  And I feel the weakest part of the Genny R-Spec is the interior.  By far.  Loved the engine....you can tell no corners were cut here!
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

^^^ Agree that the interior is the weakest link of the RSpec. It's not bad, but not in the Lexus league.

Yeah Jaeger the only problem with this thread is it's making me want an LS now... Unfortunately that can't happen for a couple months at least  :(

The flip flopping gives us forum followers an excuse to car shop  ;D

Those last two LSs were beauties!  The grill in that vintage looks so much better and more appropriate to the car than the new style imo.

the first Gen Genesis i would agree...while good, it likely wasn't as good...however, i think the current Gen Genesis (and likely the soon to come G60 or whatever it will be called) were much improved...in fact, pretty much everything was improved...keep in mind, the previous Genesis's were Hyundai's very first vehicles in the luxury car segment...Lexus has been doing it for almost 30 years...the Germans, much longer than that.

all the vehicles you mentioned are really good vehicles...my point is simply that the Genesis should be included in that group...it's a very good car.

And this one comes with an extended warranty!  $36K

That's the one Jaeger.  Do it :-)

I was sorta thinking the same.

I will check it out.  Funny how each of the LSs I have tested have driven just a bit differently.

This is the one I was mentioning.  They weren't keen to budge on price at all.  I think I might find  grand off as a best case.

I can't tell you how mint this thing was - and I have a strong preference for silver - looks so god even when a bit dirty.

That warranty on the black one in Burlington though - man, that's worth something for sure.

Nice car for sure!

But this one is about the same...for less money...private though.

BTW...you keep driving these dealer cars and before long you'll be expert enough to buy a private one.  And no..I'm not kidding.

Agreed.  And I have sat in a Genesis, Equus along with the Lexus GS, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Infiniti M, Mercedes Benz E-Class, etc.

Don't get me wrong.  The Genesis for the price point wasn't bad, but definitely not quite up to par.
James thinks the Genesis holds its own just fine:

http://www.autos.ca/car-test-drives/day-by-day-review-2015-hyundai-genesis/1/

and Justin's review of the 5.0 Ultimate was favourable as well:

http://www.autos.ca/car-test-drives/test-drive-2015-hyundai-genesis-5-0-ultimate/?all=1

and Car and Driver too:

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2015-hyundai-genesis-v-6-awd-test-review
And he's back.

To be honest, my statement was in relation to the previous generation Genesis.
