for all the mud thrown at Kia/Hyundai for their resale values, i would have thought this Lexus would have held its own better than that...it's lost about 75% of its value after about 6-7 years.

It happens to several high dollar mainstream cars....my 911 was the same.

2011 Hyundai Equus, 64,000 kms, $27k...since they were $62k new, that means this 5 year old model is worth 43.5% of what it sold for when new.

Not a 2006+ one you can't.  The older 1998-2005 you sure can.

The 2006 GS430 is also a great car.  First reall showing of the F-Finesse styling.

i posted links for some on auto trader with comparable mileage...and even if the price was a bit higher (i went by wing's article that said they were $62k new), at worst, the % would likely be similar to the Lexus...to clarify, i'm not dissing the LS, it's likely the best full size luxury car around...i'm just saying that many in here seem to rip on Hyundai for poor resale on their higher end product, but i've posted vehicles that show they are comparable to Lexus...not really sure why that was worthy of 2 smites, but whatever...if people in here prefer to bury their head in the sand, have at it.

I really like that generation of GS. Came close to buying one (V8) but they are definitely in short supply.

Decent numbers of GS350s around but a lot were beat up or at sketchy lots etc....

Cheers.  Ron recommended that as well.  I just see sooooo few 8 cylinder GS models around compared to V6.  My search-fu clearly sucks, though - so if anyone comes across a likely candidate do post up.

I haven't decided 100% yet.  But I've priced the whole thing out and can get a combo of new (shocks) and used (springs, mounting hardware) for about $500 USD.  So it's nice to know this can be done on the cheap.

I wouldn't worry to much about the smiting. 

I don't think people care about this sort of thing...because ultimately it benefits the used car buyer (us, me, you).  I think you might care if you were potentially the new car buyer.  But even then...I don't think someone who just bought an LS460 give a flying you-know-what that the depreciation percentage might be the same/more than some Hyundai nobody cares about.  But the way you point it out, it's like Hyundai is on par and/or better than Lexus because of this.  That's my interpretation...and maybe others too.  What type of reaction are people supposed to have when we're involved in a thread about Lexus...and a fellow member (Jaeger) is talking about buying one and seeking advice...and you come in here talking about Hyundai resale value vs Lexus?

I personally don't care....but others?  I could see how they might tune you out.

Not an absolute must but nice to have and I'm leaning that way if I go for a 460 instead of a 430.  There are a lot more RWD 460s out there and usually at better prices.  I will be driving one at the same dealer that has the 600hl tomorrow - though that particular example is priced kinda high.

Good...will be good to get a feel of the difference car to car...if there is any (LS460s).

LS600 will definitely feel different.  The torque rush is awesome!

That's one with a sport appearance package. Not sure if helpful in snow but the extra cladding and a different grille do look good. In 460 line I dig ones with Bamboo interiors, which are part of the true sport package (different and larger rims, brakes, and sport tuned suspension)

Official noted:  You have first dibs.  Getting ready to replace the shocks with traditional ones...just because.  And will likely ad the other "Sport" bits too so I have the best of both worlds.
