Heck my LX570 was $110k new

Pretty facking sweet owning a $100K car, eh Wing?   ;D
It is.   I almost own two.  The ISF loaded in 2009 was near $90k on the road as well.

As far as describing the ls600

The acceleration feels like a tesla,  except you very the wonderful 5.0 noise to accompany it!

So I might have spent a few too many hours last night perusing Lexus forums, getting schooled on the LS.  :o

It seems clear to me that there are two real standout models among what is, obviously, an exceptionally good group of vehicles.

One is Ron's LS 430 Ultra.  The other is the 600hl.  On that latter point, particularly telling were owners of both the naturally aspirated 460 and the 600 who assert that while the 460 is a superb machine, the 600 is clearly at another level.  While 0-60 times are comparable for the 2, midrange passing is (apparently) something else entirely in the 600.  And while the differences aren't huge, fuel consumption is better in the 600.  Having driven the 460 AWD, all I can say is if the 600 clearly impresses as a superior vehicle then it's awesomeness must be truly awesome indeed.

For me, the biggest issue in purchasing a used 600 versus 460 is battery anxiety.  As Ron informed me, they are under an 8 year manufacturers warranty - so the example posted is either out of warranty or nearly so.  I know CPO does give me two more years (assuming the battery is not excluded) but unlike His Rocketness, I will actually be driving whatever car I purchase - new or used - for at least 4 years, probably 5.  Just how costly is it when the battery goes kablooey? And is the car at least driveable when that happens, or do you need to call a flatbed?
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

Battery anxiety is just that, anxiety.  Has anyone had them go?

I would assume so - I doubt every battery ever put into every Toyota or Lexus Hybrid is still running and has never been replaced.  But how likely and how costly are questions I am seeking more information on.  At least the latter should be known, even if the former may be statistically obscure.  I'll dig through the forums more this evening.

Replacement new OEM battery is $US6k from these guys:

http://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts/lexus-battery-assy-hv-supply~G9510-50031.html

I'm not sure how representative that would be.

It's $6K Canadian.  I'd be more worried about the inverter, however.  That runs a cool $9K.   :o

Battery failure is very low.  But...it sure would suck if you were one of the few who had a failure.

I think on this car, even if CPO, I'd see if I could get an additional 2-3 year warranty added...if at my expense.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Like I said... 2 year CPO warranty...and I'd ask/buy another 2-3 year warranty.  But for the LS600H only.  It's not that I'm particularly scared it will fail..it likely won't.  But if it does...it's fairly expensive.

Please give us all the details of your test drive!!  Can't wait for the report!

Holy crap, I had no idea those things were a buck and a half new!  :o :o :o
for all the mud thrown at Kia/Hyundai for their resale values, i would have thought this Lexus would have held its own better than that...it's lost about 75% of its value after about 6-7 years.

I would say any turbo BMW is in a way higher risk bracket.......You can't replace that many turbos for $6k......

It happens to several high dollar mainstream cars....my 911 was the same.

BTW..have you checked prices on 2011 Equus lately?   :rofl2:

Lets ask Hammy if he'd rather be in an LS460/600 :)

I have a soft spot for this car. Wouldn't mind picking up a used one some day but have to budget for that air suspension (its on all the higher trims right?)

Isn't it as simple as getting a set of spring and shocks off the "welfare" spec base model  ;D

Yes.  You can do a "normal" shock conversion to the car.

No doubt. But I wouldn't even consider a used BMW. And a new one would be covered under warranty. There was some chatter on the forum about batteries being specifically excluded from any Lexus extended warranty but I will ask tomorrow at the dealer.

BTW...did you do a write up on your LS460 drive??
