Late model LS reviews are saying the current cars are not up to early model standards on Kelly Blue Book Consumer Reviews. This car is not without problems with a score of lower than 8 out of 10 on their scale.
But the older models have received good reviews and the blog sphere there is one LS approaching one-million mile mark. They say when everyone else was spending about $1,000,000 to develop a car in the 1990's, Lexus spent twelve times that it is so over engineered.
That was somewhat part of the thinking when I got my LS. It was still essentially an upgraded LS400 platform. Everything changed with the LS460 though.
In what respect, if any, was the 460 a step backwards?
The LS430 feels more special....like more care, more attention to detail. It feels like a low volume car. The LS460, while still incredible...feels less special. It doesn't ride as nice and it's a touch louder. It feel less like the "old" super premium quality Lexus. I think most people might not feel this vibe unless they've been driving Lexus' for many years like we have.
Really?!??! Would have never thought. I really love the 460 with the awd.

If you want AWD, you want the LS600h. The LS460 AWD makes less HP.
Don't get me wrong...the LS460
IS awesome. It just feels less handbuilt than the older Lexus we've owned. I first noticed this with my 2006 IS350...which was first of the "new" Lexus models. And the interior on all except for the top trim models feels less nice than my LS430. It was one of the reason I chose the LS430.
As I said...I doubt anyone who hasn't owned multiple Lexus would notice.
