A few years back I found a minty black 1995 LS400 with 140k for $6500 being sold by its original owner. I regret no buying that car.

Yeah not many with that kind of mileage. A few around here, 2007 with 117k for around $17k.

No Nav but also no air suspension to worry about. Seems to be a well cared for car. This generation had a 5 spd auto until 2004 refresh, when it became a 6 spd. Dooo it

The Nav systems from back then are not all that great anyway - and yeah, no air suspension - a bonus for some.

$12K isn't a terrible price if the car's history is as good as the seller says. Might knock a few bucks off even. The 4.3L -5spAT combo is superb.

Having had the opportunity to drive Rrocket's car I can say I came away very impress and understand why people seek these out. It doesn't drive like a large car and the quality is obvious the second you get in it. Really made me wish I needed one as I would really enjoy driving it with all the hwy miles I do. Or maybe just the GS F-Sport would suit me better. Or if I found bags of money, the GS-F.

I've read some reviews claiming that as the GS is a newer design it actually has better seats and cockpit design than the LS. I've only driven the first gen LS and haven't driven any GS yet.

I was really surprised at how compliant the ride was in the old LS. I was expecting a floaty ride without any feedback, but it was actually quite communicative for its size.

I really like the LS and they are a relative bargain used at about 4-5 years old. So tempting.

Really interested to see what the next gen LS brings.

It was around New Years as I was down in Windsor visiting family then. Dropped Rrocket a note saying I would be in town so lets get together. He graciously offered to drive and let me get some road time in his LS. So the big spender I am, I paid for breakfast.

Late model LS reviews are saying the current cars are not up to early model standards on Kelly Blue Book Consumer Reviews. This car is not without problems with a score of lower than 8 out of 10 on their scale.

But the older models have received good reviews and the blog sphere there is one LS approaching one-million mile mark. They say when everyone else was spending about $1,000,000 to develop a car in the 1990's, Lexus spent twelve times that it is so over engineered.

That was somewhat part of the thinking when I got my LS. It was still essentially an upgraded LS400 platform. Everything changed with the LS460 though.
