Guess repair costs
« on: February 24, 2016, 08:58:28 pm »
Fun game.  Friend tapped something with his new Golf R.  Took about a month to get it repaired.

Can you guess the final bill?

Another car at 10km/h.  Someone stopped on the yellow, he expected them to go through, it was slippery just barely ran into them.

Good guess. $9k + $700 for rental car.

Don't think so, road conditions were a factor I believe.  Not sure though.  He admits he should not have assumed the other driver was going to go through the yellow.

Anyways, yeah, so crazy.  When you see a $10k repair don't assume it was something major, this looked like nothing much at first.

So many sensors and little things behind the bumper.

Rad
Rad support
windshield washer bottle
bumper sensors
bumper.
fog light
headlight
etc etc.

Yikes. Now the $7500 damage on the Odyssey doesn't seem so bad.

But yeah, a carproof with anything <10k I would still look at the car and see if there are receipts for the work and so on

This was $5k on my 911

Anyone care to guess what it's going to cost to fix my LS after hitting the raccoon?

Damn it. I should have made y'all guess, but I think I mentioned the van costs in another thread. The same thing applies though: radiator, sensors, bumper, new hood, gash on the door, AC condenser, fog lights. I'm inclined to think the cost would have been 12k+ in ottawa.

rrocket I would guess maybe $1500? with sensors and parts and so on?

Sensors are undamaged.  But the bumper reinforcement in that area is cracked, as is the fog light support.

My insurance company only uses new bumpers, but they are shockingly cheap.  $367 direct from Lexus!

I don't think your guess is too far off.

That's pretty good. Does the bumper come painted?

I'm now unsure if they actually replaced the parking sensors on the van. I know they did replace fog lights. I'll have to check the invoice

I wouldn't think so.

For the LS, I am going to guess between $2000-$2500. Labor, taxes and all.

Yea...I wouldn't say you're wrong.  It's going to be $1500-$2500 IMO.

We need to get a raffle going on this.  :)
