My non-car enthusiast friends thought I was CRAZY for buying a manual car.  :P

Depending on the car, sometimes a manual is a killer in that nukes your ability to resell.  Sometimes a manual is a big winner - Miata.

My mother in-law wasn't too happy when I got the 6 stick.  "How will my daughter drive it?" I told her she is still young, I can teach her lots of tricks!  ;D

Was just curious about the Mazda 3 & 6.

Thanks for the offer.

Mazda3 = 23.2-25.5% (not sure why they separate the Mexican-built cars from the Japanese-built cars)
Mazda6 = 17.0%

Think the Japanese are the Mazda3 GT, with the 2.5L.

Pretty good take rate.  Mazda3 same as Impreza.  Sounds like the 6 has one of the highest manual take rates in the mid size sedan category.  I did my part!

I'm curious about the Focus, and Corolla.. I actually wonder why they bother with stickshift in the corolla

The manual take rate on the Ford Focus is 17.6% and on the Corolla is 1.1%.
What's the rate for Infiniti Q60 6M models?

Or some gens of M3. The most expensive E46 M3 - the SMG convertible - fetches the least money on the used market.

The PDK is REALLY good too though.

Not always, but most newer things perform better number-wise.

Personally, I have no use for anything automatic and the one I did own for a matter of months was a winter junker.

A 993 Tiptronic is substantially cheaper than a 6 speed.

And Porsche just made available a limited number of manuals.

According to Wards Automotive, these are the manual transmission "take rates" for model year 2015 in the U.S. (the most recent figures available), for the vehicles mentioned in this thread:

Ford Fiesta - 20.0%
Jaguar F-Type - nil
Mazda MX-5 - 49.0%
Porsche 911 - 46.3%
Scion FR-S - 41.6%
Subaru BRZ - 35.5%
Subaru Impreza - 25.0%
Forester - 2.0%
Subaru Legacy - nil
Subaru Outback - nil
Subaru WRX - 62.0%
Subaru XV Crosstrek - 3.0%
VW Golf - 27.9%
VW GTI - 22.6%
VW Passat - 14.2%

The highest take rate is for the Dodge Viper at 100.0%.

I don't know of any similar source for Canadian stats/sales breakdown.

Well there was no manual F-type for 2016 so that makes sense. The Porsche 911 number sounds very wrong though. Manuals are quite hard to find; some dealers don't stock them at all.

Great data, but don't forget guys that these are US numbers and that stick availability varies down there vs what we get!
