The C300 4Matic (sedan) starts at $43,800. Wonder if the diesel wagon will start around $45K? Looking forward to checking one of these out.

Wagons are more than sedans.  Plus the diesel is usually more (but with the previous GLK, it was cheaper).  I suspect somewhere closer to $48k, especially with the dollar.

That depends.  MB has shown they will under-price their diesels in comparison to the gas models while BMW treats their diesels with a more premium approach by including more baseline features than the gas models. 

Some examples: 

GLE 350d = $63,200
GLE 400 = $63,800

GL 350 BT = $79,700
GL 400 = $80,800

E 250 BT = $64,500
E 300 = $65,500

If the upcharge between the E-Class sedan and wagon is any indication percentage-wise I would estimate a $3K premium for the C-Class wagon.

In these cases the gas engine is a "premium" engine. For example the E300 is a six-cylinder vs. the E250 four-cylinder. I wouldn't expect a C300d to undercut a gas C300.

So what you're really saying is that the BMW 328d sedan is overpriced. The sedan is $48,350 so the extra $1350 buys you the wagon body, a power tailgate, and a panoramic sunroof. That's a very reasonable price difference.

Tell that to the dealers in Edmonton. They list $3,095 on their quotes.

Knowing how MB operates in order to get the pano roof and the power liftgate you'll have to order two different option packages each costing 5K or more.

Yep. The Benz also probably won't have nav standard. They charge $3700 for the premium package on the C300 sedan which includes nav, pano roof, and a backup camera. So most likely this wagon will cost $47k equipped similarly to the $49k BMW.

^ So dumb, luxury cars brands should have nav and backup camera standard.  Higher trims can be the nannies, and other creature comforts heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise, etc.

Maybe not so dumb.  I wouldn't be surprised if MB had as much or more profit in 15K worth of options than in the 43K base car.

I am sure the profit is great and all.  With all the features the mainstream manufacturers are getting what's the incentive of getting a luxury brand.  Other than the badge.  Look at the Lexus ES350, it doesn't come with navi, fog lights, but it does come with a heated steering wheel.  With the Avalon, it comes with navi, and fog lights, maybe missing a few little things that the base Lexus has. But its also $4000 cheaper.

The base price posted was indeed 46,200$. I spent some time in an around that wagon and  The crowd was not seeing the wagon and stormed the GLC instead.  Wagon seems to have more room in the back.

Sales rep expects the wagons to arrive this summer.

Drove my dad's Golf TDI the other day. Felt incredibly torquey with a "mere" 236 lb-ft. Can't imagine what this Benz will be like.
