I like the looks of this MUCH better than the Pilot, Highlander & Pathfinder!!  The back looks a bit like the current generation Durango to me though.  And I'm not certain how it will do with the reduced cargo & towing capacity, but a good thing that it shed some weight finally!!

GM has clearly abandoned the mid to large sized class with this re-design. It now barely edges out the Rav 4 for cargo capacity (2137 vs 2090 L).

I bought my Acadia because of how roomy it was yet more nimble than a full size Tahoe/Yukon. Not sure I'd buy a smaller model, the Acadia was unique because of its larger size and ability to seat 8. Supposedly, the Traverse and Enclave are to remain the same size, GMC downsized the Acadia to run with the Explorer and Grand Cherokee. There's also rumor that a XL version will become available.

Other than the size the new one looks fantastic/ Very nice looking in and out.

Not really. Word is that the Enclave will use a LWB version of this platform while the Traverse replacement will be offered in two wheelbase lengths.

The previous Acadia was a pretty big rolly polly thing. As Fob is fond of saying, might as well just roll with a Yukon. This new size will be closer to what the market seems to prefer.

Yet Acadia sales have been growing. I think this is at least a little bit of a gamble for GMC.

Would this be an Edge competitor now?  As it's sales numbers are quite strong.  One of the few that seat 5, V6, and tows 3500lbs.

That's a good point about the Edge. There's not many two row crossovers that are large than the "compacts". Edge, Murano... What else?

Right, and the Venza. Not many choices compared to three row crossovers.

For a family vehicle, after wagons, it's my favourite category.  But the list isn't pretty slim.  Strange how everyone of these doesn't get much better fuel economy than the 3rd row SUV's that weigh more, and are longer.

Venza - last year and all for a reason.
Outback - pretty good, 6 cylinder needs to be more efficient.
Murano - kinda pricey, not a fan of CVT
Edge - the newest one looks pretty good.  Pricing ok with Ford Employee discount.

I just wonder where the GMC Terrain fits in the model fold now. I guess they'll downsize it a little as well for the next generation.

I would think so; the Terrain is coming due for a new model as the original design is already 6 years old.

If I'm reading things right, the Acadia goes from being Flex sized to Explorer sized. It's still bigger than the Edge and Murano.

Wheelbase is almost identical now but in length the old one was closer to the Explorer than the new one is.
