meh.. while you say dated... i don't see that... but i also understand that unless you want a minivan to look ridiculous, it will end up looking a bit dull. it is after all a minivan.

the last row is just reclined back to photograph better peeps... no need to get worried about it. as always though with the stow n go, the bottom of the seats angle is a little less than desirable.

as for name changes... whatever. people are getting less and less devoted to brands or nameplates. i still get people coming in asking me about chevy stuff because they think chrysler and chevy are the same... and guys pulling in looking for someone who works at ford, thinking that's where they were, not even noticing the hundreds of FCA cars the just drove/walked past. i don't care what they call them. i was selling back when my lot had plymouth voyagers, dodge grand caravans and chrysler town and country's all next to each other... in the end, it was which one had the options and the price, not the name on it.
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

The styling demonstrates to car stylists that (like VW) relatively simple lines can result in something more attractive than the frenetic overstyling of most cars and suv's today.  If you can do this with a box...

Second, it will force other minivan makers to restyle their vans into looking less like awkward blobs.  Amazing that this immediately follows the overly plain and boxy styling of the predecessor, and it's nice to see European design themes invading the minivan and commercial light van segments in North America.

The only question about a hybrid van showing up here, is why it has taken so long.  Minivans seem like a natural for hybrid powertrains.  And how fast will the other minivan makers be forced to follow this?  It will be very interesting to see how they sell.
And some cretins think I hate cars.

I agree mentioned this before about hybrid vans.

Toyota should've been first. But maybe this will be the proverbial match under their ass.

True.  They tend to go for the "tried, tested and true" path.

Because they generally won't release something half baked.  Especially when it's with their hybrid tech.

Why invest in a hybrid powertrain for a segment that is so small? this was probably a hard sell at Toyota.

I'd say cost.  Because they are unlikely to put it in a stripper model.  So now you're talking a $50K+ van.

^^^ exactly my point above yours. Toyota likely saw a limited up take for $50k+ hybrid vans.

Half Baked?  They have the hybrid tech.  They did the Highlander, and Camry ages ago.  If so motivated, they could have easily done the Sienna.  But since the market doesn't sell as many vans as SUV's, they didn't.

I actually prefer Honda's to Toyota. If I wasn't so worry about the car breaking. I'd like a MK7 golf. Such a nice car.

How do you explain Scion? ;D

I think Scion was fine when it debuted but then for whatever reason Toyota ignored it.

I think that the premise that Toyota needed a new brand for youth oriented cars was half-baked.

Perhaps. I think they were riding on the coattails of The Fast and the Furious days when compact cars needed to be "personalized" and such. The theory was right for the time but in hindsight a separate brand wasn't needed.

Golf breaking??  I had a 2010 for 4 years and 80k.  Other than scheduled maintenance every 15k, it was never in for repairs, not even a squeak or rattle.  So far, after 2 years and 40k, my 14 Passat hasn't had any problems either.  Can't say that for any other makes of cars I've had before, the worst being '04 and '08 Camry's.

Well you've been lucky.
