yeah, those darn safety ratings.  No chance there would ever be bench-style seating in anything other than a Limo, which completely skirt safety regulations.

The best thing about this concept is that neat little below-battery-false floor trunk space.  That'd be swell for keeping the safety/emerg kits out of sight whereas the normal trunk could be completely empty at all other times.

That said, insurers will flip the fack out when they see how expensive minor rear-enders will cost to repair.
