All this wavy styling is making me sea sick, but here is an interesting bit:
Quote
All three variants use a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine (208 hp/258 lb-ft of torque) and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that comes from the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class from which the QX30 borrows its platform and running gear. Watch for pricing information closer to the QX30’s summer 2016 launch.

So it is really a MB B class or A class depending on a few numbers that are to do with which exact platform it uses.    So will it be Japanese car reliable or an FGC ?   Time will tell I guess.

This is a GLA250 with different styling...they also reused a lot of the inside bits as well
pricing should be a bit easier to swallow than the GLA

Is MB going to assemble it, similar to how one compact Scion is a Mazda, or is Infinity buying MB parts and putting it together?

I am not sure where the initial units are coming from - I assumed they are being made in the Infiniti/MB factory in Mexico. I believe the GLA will be built there too...

Q3 all day.

See FGC remarks above for rebuttal. I think the QX30  looks great and expect Infiniti dealership experience to be superior to Nissan, and cost of ownership to kick Mercedes to the curb...

With its QX30 set to go on sale here around the middle of 2016, Infiniti has announced trim levels for its first-even compact crossover model.
I suppose 30 is an even number...

I'm ok with the misleading nomenclature of QX if AWD is 'available', but the way this article reads suggests that AWD will only be available in the top trim.  I doubt that'll be the case, and instead it'll be a hefty $2,000+ standalone option.  It'll be interesting to see if you need to trim up to get the AWD even as an option.

After Lady No-san's parents have had their CX-3 for a number of months now, they are really regretting their lease and are considering trading it in early.  100% of back seat passengers (yours truly included, 2 elderly, Lady No-san, and a bunch of their middle-aged friends) get car-sick.  We're positing that it's partially the 'new car' smell that simply hasn't faded over numerous months, and mostly the horrid outward visibility from the rear.  Other than that, they do love the CX-3; however, I cannot imagine that the QX30 will do any better in this regard.

Unless the QX30 is thousands (like, nearing $5,000+) cheaper than the MB-variant, I'm not sure this will be successful, especially given the FWD-heavy trim options.

In the styling department this thing wins big over the GLA IMHO.

But that trunk opening......forget about Ikea runs.

The other concern is outwards visibility from the back seat.  Quite a few folks (not to mention a few kids) have experienced car sickness in the back of my Mazda 3 and the QX30 -which is arguably a more family-oriented vehicle- looks to have the same issues with an overly high rear belt line.

I'm not sure why we are hung up on the QX = AWD thing. The QX50, 60, and 70 are all available with FWD or RWD in the U.S.
