I'm guessing the platinum goes up against the high end MB and BMW models, more like a bargain S-class 7 series, or A8 competitor.

They've kept the pricing competitive. Still want to see a V8 option though.

A full size flagship sedan with a 4 cyl engine  :o  And I thought a 2.0T CTS was a strange choice... The 4 cyl should be reserved for a hybrid version IMO.

The rwd CTS weights about 1700kgs. If the CT6 comes in at the same weight, the 2.0L will move it along ok. 0-60 in the CTS 2.0L in ~6.2 seconds, the V6 is roughly 6.0L.

The main complaint regarding the 2.0L is the engine note.

With only $2300 between the 4 cyl RWD base model and the V6 AWD version I can't imagine they'll sell many base cars.  Guessing it's only there for the government mileage tests and marketing purposes.

The base 4 cyl is mostly likely for export markets (mainly) were some jurisdictions have displacement taxes and being under 2000cc puts the car in a different tax bracket.

$61K, considering the 2.0T ATS I am driving right now is the same price that actually sounds pretty good. No V8 is a no-go though...Cadillac needs a flagship V8. Say what you will about the Northstar, but it was a great marketing tool.

Rumor has it Cadillac has a V8 in development. It'll probably be some type of hybrid I'd guess.

They should just wait then.

Because a 400hp/400ft-lb twin turbo V6 is sooo inadequate.

You'd think you guys were born in 1940.  :P

Normally aspirated V8s are dead. Get used to it.

A halo, flagship luxury car needs a V8.  Period.

And odd you should say that...since the best engine GM makes (by far) is a NA V8.

Lots of good V8s out there, but they're going away. Smaller turbocharged engines are taking over.

I agree.  But not for luxury flagships.

I no longer think the V8 is mandatory.... Plenty of people like the fuel efficiency and power delivery of a turbo 6 and just don't care how many cylinders there are.

I'm good with the turbo 6...my biggest issue with this car is the huge price gap between the base model and platinum....~$40k!!!

True, but are those people buying the big dog (of sorts) Cadillac land yacht?

I'm with rrocket.   V8 or bust.

Will the limo drivers at the airport care if it has v8 ?
Will the  funeral home drivers care if it has a v8?
Will anyone Else buy this car ?
