The Passat made the list. I can hardly wait to crash into something.  :o ;D :foil:

I hate to correct you, but the Chrysler 200 is foreign owned like the others and is NOT a domestic any longer.

:| Mazda3 is the only compact to make the list?  At least the Civic will be, in Touring form, shortly.

And Audi A3 is a Midsize car?!

plus an ‘advanced’ or ‘superior’ rating for collision avoidance/mitigation systems.

I assume that many of those 48 models have these avoidance systems as optional equipment. So that rating would not apply to the entire model range?

i think they have to have the avoidance features to qualify for TSP+.

as an option...

so i can sell a 200 lx by claiming it is the only domestic to get the top safety pick plus when equipped with a package costing 10 grand more

really silly... but whatever. it's what i expect. it's more when i see any car that gets a poor or marginal that i get excited... this is expected.

Yes..it's stupid.  Since the avoidance system does nothing to protect the occupant after you're in an accident...and potentially doesn't even prevent an accident in the first place.

are they even allowed to sell cars that get poor or marginal ratings anymore?

i suppose if they did, they likely wouldn't sell many and the insurance rates would be through the roof.

Subaru does well.  I wonder if it's only with "Eye-Sight" systems?

Yea..but it only works at a speed differential of 30MPH.  So it's useless against a parked car (or crash barrier!   ;) ) at 40MPH, isn't it?

sure can jeffer! take a look at mazda5...

front overlap - poor, side impact - marginal, no front crash avoidance, head restraints and seat - acceptable, no latch testing (hopefully would be ok though!)...

you don't hear about the multitude of deaths or anything though.. as these get better and better, it gets to a point where the car can take more than a human body can anyways...

In 2015, the most "unsafe" car on the market is still a pretty damned safe machine.

No Corolla or Highlander on the list, no Fords, no GM, one Dodge.

I'd rather a Corolla or Highlander in a crash than the Scion Yaris WITH collision avoidance.

I'd take either..any time!

Well so would I.  But did any Scion, or Yaris make the list?

i think the problem is that car predates the new partial overlap tests...i would imagine all vehicles that have been recently redesigned would fare well.

well the Corolla was just redesigned. As was the Highlander.  A few Hyundais/Kias, the domestics.  So I wouldn't say all....

i'm not sure you understood my point...what i mean was, i would imagine all the of the redesigned vehicles would do well on the test...it makes sense the Mazda5 didn't do well as it predated that partial overlap test.

oh I see.  Thought you meant all new designed vehicles should get top safety marks...
