Yeah, to me the '68/'69 was the best, and the '70 was the start of the downhill slide. I bought my '70 used and remember that, at the time, I couldn't afford buying a 68 or 69. Also I remember it tramlined to the point of being dangerous, but it was worth it.   :)

I am a 3rd gen guy myself. Probably because I am a child of the 80s (barely) too. But I agree that the early 2nd gens are pretty sweet, my grandmother used to have a bright orange 70 with a white vinyl interior. The 1st gens do nothing for me, even when done up.

I don't know... the 1st gen ones are still pretty nice, even not done up.  There's one I see here at work all summer & I had to stop & take a pic of it one day because I thought it was so sweet looking.

Great photos in this review:

http://puppyknuckles.kinja.com/first-drive-1-014-miles-in-the-2016-camaro-ss-1742965242

What is not subjective, however, is the chassis and engine in this thing. My current Car and Driver did a GT vs SS comparison and the SS dusted the GT in all performance metrics. 0-60 in 3.9 and a 1/4 mile in 12.3 @ 116MPH. Those are big boy numbers and are pretty much Corvette Stingray numbers. Wow. It's light on it's feet as well.

Indeed.  This is a pretty incredible performance offering if one can live with the styling, visibility and interior.

I would be happier than a pig in sh!t if GM created a new "GTO" by turning this thing into a 4 door.   Basically a Chevy version of the ATS with the 6.2 LT1.   Will never happen of course....

I'm definitely a Mustang fanboy, but this new SS would be hard to ignore.   Bravo GM.

Basically yes, but that's the LS3 engine, not the LT1....and not the same excellent chassis that the ATS and 'Maro are using.

But yes, if Chevy offered the SS in Canada, I'd be interested in a test drive for sure.

If they sold the SS in Canada it would be hard for me to say no. I agree 100% with Evil that if they did a 2016 SS Sedan based on the new engine and chassis and they gave it an interior like the 2015 SS Sedan it would be brilliant.

The general public just does not want these cars though - as crazy as it sounds to me. I'd go put down a deposit today if they announced it. lol

Actually if they gave the Camaro the interior of the SS Sedan, I'd be much more interested in it too...

The Charger with the Scat Pack appeals to me more than any Mustang,Camaro or Challenger
I'm not even 100% sure why that is -- I think because it screams "bad ass" more than the other three.

Only issue being that there's no manual transmission on offer with the Charger.  Chevy actually offers a 6sp manual on the SS in the US of A and it apparently transforms the experience: http://autoweek.com/article/car-reviews/2015-chevy-ss-sedan-review

I have no love for the styling of that car, but in black with a nice exhaust?  There are much worse ways to drop the kids off at daycare (and perform a burnout on the way out)

GM should have just brought in their Holden line from Australia with the steering wheel moved to the proper side.....such good looking cars.

Visibility has been an issue for Camaros since the 80's, just get used to it. I understand it's a little tricky when you're only testing the car, but I bet once you've owned it for awhile you'll hardly notice it as an issue.
I disagree with this statement.

Excellent styling can be had without bunker-like outward visibility.

I didn't say that it can't...I just said that the Camaro has had :censor: visibility for the last 35 years. Once you've driven one for awhile it becomes a non-issue. I learned to drive in a Camaro, I taught Mrs. Firm to drive in a Firebird. I can park one of those cars within a 1/2 inch of an obstacle, and I know how to adjust my mirrors so that I minimize any blindspots. So for me, visibility is hardly a consideration.

And THAT is the thing GM considered when redesigning the 2016: That the people who have actually bought Camaros, since the 2010 model debuted, insisted they didn't want the exterior design compromised at all. And with Camaro outselling Mustang for the last few years, why change it?

Mustang has outsold Camaro 3 out of the last 5 years (2015, 2014, 2012).

Rhetoric!! Balderdash!!  Define "outsold".  :stick: Where I live, there's at least 1 new Camaro, and not a single new Mustang anywhere...going by that, I'd have to disagree with your purported sales figure stats. Nope, Camaro outsells Mustang's here (too)!

...come to think of it...I can't remember even seeing the Camaro for a long time...everyone around here drives pickup trucks.

You're right.  My numbers are wrong.  Mustang outsold Camaro every year for last 6 years in Canada...at almost a rate of 2:1   :stick:  It outsold the Camaro 3 of last 5 years in USA.

Canada Sales:

                          Mustang                     Camaro
2010                 5232                               4113
2011                 4432                                3750
2012                 5181                                2557
2013                 5054                                 2167
2014                 5605                                 2880
2015                 6581                                 2591

Everybody knows what all the secretary's prefer to buy,  big numbers for the Mustang. If you want the sports car buy the Camaro. Gen 6 Camaro is killing the Mustang in all the reviews and I suspect It'll hurt its sales too.

Odd...the bulk of Camaros I see are secretary cars too.  But that has always been the case.  The V8s aren't ever the bulk of the sales IMO.  But never mind..the interior of the Camaro is still a train wreck.  I'd being compelled to drive a Mustang for that fact alone.
