I am a 3rd gen guy myself. Probably because I am a child of the 80s (barely) too. But I agree that the early 2nd gens are pretty sweet, my grandmother used to have a bright orange 70 with a white vinyl interior. The 1st gens do nothing for me, even when done up.
Great photos in this review:http://puppyknuckles.kinja.com/first-drive-1-014-miles-in-the-2016-camaro-ss-1742965242What is not subjective, however, is the chassis and engine in this thing. My current Car and Driver did a GT vs SS comparison and the SS dusted the GT in all performance metrics. 0-60 in 3.9 and a 1/4 mile in 12.3 @ 116MPH. Those are big boy numbers and are pretty much Corvette Stingray numbers. Wow. It's light on it's feet as well.

This is a pretty incredible performance offering if one can live with the styling, visibility and interior.I would be happier than a pig in sh!t if GM created a new "GTO" by turning this thing into a 4 door. Basically a Chevy version of the ATS with the 6.2 LT1. Will never happen of course....I'm definitely a Mustang fanboy, but this new SS would be hard to ignore. Bravo GM.
If they sold the SS in Canada it would be hard for me to say no. I agree 100% with Evil that if they did a 2016 SS Sedan based on the new engine and chassis and they gave it an interior like the 2015 SS Sedan it would be brilliant. The general public just does not want these cars though - as crazy as it sounds to me. I'd go put down a deposit today if they announced it. lol
The Charger with the Scat Pack appeals to me more than any Mustang,Camaro or ChallengerI'm not even 100% sure why that is -- I think because it screams "bad ass" more than the other three.

Chevy actually offers a 6sp manual on the SS in the US of A and it apparently transforms the experience: http://autoweek.com/article/car-reviews/2015-chevy-ss-sedan-reviewI have no love for the styling of that car, but in black with a nice exhaust? There are much worse ways to drop the kids off at daycare (and perform a burnout on the way out)

I understand it's a little tricky when you're only testing the car, but I bet once you've owned it for awhile you'll hardly notice it as an issue.I disagree with this statement.Excellent styling can be had without bunker-like outward visibility.I didn't say that it can't...I just said that the Camaro has had visibility for the last 35 years. Once you've driven one for awhile it becomes a non-issue. I learned to drive in a Camaro, I taught Mrs. Firm to drive in a Firebird. I can park one of those cars within a 1/2 inch of an obstacle, and I know how to adjust my mirrors so that I minimize any blindspots. So for me, visibility is hardly a consideration.

And with Camaro outselling Mustang for the last few years, why change it?

Balderdash!! Define "outsold". Where I live, there's at least 1 new Camaro, and not a single new Mustang anywhere...going by that, I'd have to disagree with your purported sales figure stats. Nope, Camaro outsells Mustang's here (too)! ...come to think of it...I can't remember even seeing the Camaro for a long time...everyone around here drives pickup trucks.

Can I copy and paste this part: You're right - and show it to my wife? Wow, she will be so surprised.
Everybody knows what all the secretary's prefer to buy, big numbers for the Mustang. If you want the sports car buy the Camaro. Gen 6 Camaro is killing the Mustang in all the reviews and I suspect It'll hurt its sales too.
