Well, maybe they'll put forth a much better effort.  One that can actually compete with the Micra.

If it comes back with a proper engine, sound deadening, some suspension tuning and some better seats, I say a visit to reform school wouldn't be a bad idea.
Lighten up Francis.....

If it comes back with a proper engine, sound deadening, some suspension tuning and some better seats, I say a visit to reform school as a completely different and better car, that wouldn't be a bad idea.

The Mirage is horrid.  The Micra is 100x the car for the same money.  Mitsu should be ashamed of even offering it for sale.

if this was their best effort and they couldn't just take a small loss on each and blow them out for a price that makes it seem like a steal, they really did fail.

when it is more viable to walk away from the r&d, parts contracts, etc. than to just just keep making it... wow.

as long as they don't make it a better car but try to make up for lost profits by charging 20 grand... ok.

to me, anyone in this segment just needs to decide what route to go... not like mitsu had a stellar reputation to tarnish anyway, i would have just found ways to make the car even more inexpensive and sold based on being just so damn cheap... in that segment, people buy price/payment, not necessarily a car.

as i said when this car first came out...it makes sense in developing countries, where many of their vehicles are quite spartan and inexpensive...but for North America, where the competition all have great, inexpensive products competing against each other, the Mirage is an insult...i've only seen a couple in real life on the road, and really wonder how on earth anyone chose that over anything else (including taking the bus).
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

The real news here is the January reveal of the 2017 car... News came out last summer about the absence of a 2016 Mirage.

Some, ahem, older car guys here can remember just how good the Colt Turbo was in the '80s ... Known as the Mirage elsewhere, that car was very competitive when it came out, and had a funky "twin stick" manual. If Mitsu looks at its heritage, there's hope.

my buddy had a non-turbo version of one of those back in the days (late 80s)...i think his was an early 80s model (we were just kids then, so anything we would have bought would have been about a decade old and well used)...the body was crap (rusty), but it was a punchy little car.

Looks like it should have been in the Fast and Furious franchise!

Thanks for the memories!. I advised a girlfriend to buy a 1979 Colt and it was much loved (the Colt). I lusted after the upgraded model with the turbo (again, the Colt). I test drove the Turbo and it was raw, uncontrolled, and a hoot to drive (ditto).
