cvp is more base than many realize... and you can't just pop on items the way many people like... for example, like typeonemb suggested, the trailer tow package... no can do. have to get an sxt package (6600 bucks), then add the trailer tow (700)... so now it's a 27295 van on sale...

... and even then, your back windows don't go down, no three zone temp control, no bluetooth, no back up cam, heated seats or dvd screens...

amazing how many people come in asking me about the cvp, then say matter-of-factly, "so that comes with navigation?"..

... no.. no it doesn't... it doesn't even come with floor mats.
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

It is the modern equivalent of the "rubber mat" special.

yeah.. carpets, but no mats.... no tint... no roof rack... but most people don't really use that stuff, so they keep it cheap... most appreciate it, but others just start adding up all the things they want. then they see the total and wonder why it's hardly any cheaper... weird that you get what you pay for.

Grand Caravan CVP @ 19.995 is a good deal.
Town and Country - @35K+ I am not sure...

The Grand Caravan CVP has no features.

I see no features as a "feature".  Less stuff to break after warranty expires.

Bingo!
The features I was looking for are: "7 seats and AC". CVP serves its purpose nicely.

When it comes to a minivan, I agree. Cheap as possible.

Why?? So you can get $5k for it 3 years later after the interior looks like a garbage trucks emptied its contents into it?? Minivans are by far the most disposable vehicles on the market, no one I know cares about them, maintains them or would even think twice if something bad happened to them.

I dunno. I know a guy who bought a previous generation loaded Odyssey and plans to drive it forever so he treats it accordingly.

I think people buying CVP Caravans are just looking for cheap transportation.  Anyone buying a loaded Toyota or Honda van are going to take care of their "investment".

This.  I take good care of my Odyssey and it shows.  Interior is mint after 1.5 years of use.  Leather seats get cleaned and conditioned every 6-8 weeks.  Takes very little time.

I would too, used. It'd be too expensive brand new.

Thinking back over more then 3 decades of driving and I can honestly say I see no connection with how much people spend on a vehicle and how well they care for.

It's the quality of the person that matters, not how much cash ( or debt) they have.

Automatic sliding doors are by far one of the biggest problems on any brand minivan.

The power sliding doors in my parent's 2005 Odyssey have been flawless since new.

Maybe you hang around a different type of crowd.  My 10 year old van base van is worth more than $5k.  Imagine how much a 10 year old Lexus van would be worth.  Leather seats are easier to clean as well... Besides a lot of people that drive luxury vehicles, don't clean it themselves..

We know your not a van fan, and we know I am not a truck fan.  Unless you tow, I don't find them practical.

Yep.  Friend had a 2006 that worked flawlessly, even when he sold it 2 years ago.

I am sure their are many examples of automatic doors working fine.  But it is a very common problem that affects minivans.  The cables easily get frayed.  Do a google search, you will get pages of complaints, and you tube videos, how to convert it to manual.

Not saying you shouldn't get electric, just saying it is not without it's problems...

Our 2006 Mazda MPV GT's power sliding doors have been fine, but every spring and fall I make sure I clean and lubricate the wiring, latches, slivers and rollers where I can reach.

The only problem we had was one time we had a sleet storm and getting the door on one side to close and lock was an issue.
Fortune favours the bold!

ice is the usual reason i don't go for the power sliders...

and it's not that they are a for sure problem, they could last forever. it is just that like anything, you complicate a simple thing, and it is bound the be the part that goes.

and pj, i would love to believe what you said, but i respectfully agree to disagree. while, yes, it is more about the person than their bank account, there does seem to be direct correlation between the lower cash flow and the type of person who doesn't care for their car. there are DEFINITELY many examples of otherwise, but as a simple rule from what i see, i'll stick with my thought.

some wealthy are rough and dirty as hell with their cars, but they either pay people to clean/fix it or only have it for a few years. and again, your mileage may vary.
