Thanks all - the weather this week is killing me -- sunny and around 20 degrees.
So, what to do... I've been watching various reviews/videos of the MX5.

This one was interesting -- talks about drivetrain loss.  Someone dyno'd one at 142hp at the wheels... so either this thing is insanely efficient or the 155 number is sandbagged

https://youtu.be/R_RcEhzMC0I?t=6m46s

That's right around 9% and I seem to think I read that on a RWD vehicle that 6 - 10% was common?  So it seems plausible?  Would have to Google that again though.

Congrats on the new wheels....weels. Great color choice. As for that automatic one, a moment of silence.
Lighten up Francis.....

RWD cars typically suffer 6-10% loss in the rear differential alone thanks to the 90 degree power turn.  FWD is actually more efficient - but sucks to drive.

9% loss would be on the very low side for any car - so there might be a bit of a sandbag going on.  I bet Mazda is very sensitive to making sure every owner has at least those 155hp after what's happened in the past.

That said, the Miata is probably very efficient for a RWD car.  The low power means components don't have to be super beefy - beefy adds to loss.  But, I would think the total loss is more than nine percent.

Congrats on the sweeeeet ride.  Definitely a great compliment to your Crosstrek.  Probably the most efficient way to have a great driving experience on 4 wheels.

You have to bribe him, with a round of beer or lunch!  ;D

Does that violate ethics code?   ;D

I'm sure you will love the car.

I had a 2004 and it was probably my favourite car of all time.  Not the best at long distance touring, but excelled at everything else.

Weels,

You got an MX-5!!! Woohoo, you will love it!!!

I really like the way it looks. I went to take a peak at Forbes Mazda at the grey one as well.

I like the factory order option. You need to get what you really want. You'll really look forward to it in the spring.

By the way, our 2013 mx-5 was built Dec. 12, 2012 (we also made a purchase in late fall). And it arrived in early March. So that might give you an idea of timing.

 :bounce:  :bounce: :fiver:

Hey Julie!  Long time no see
Yours was built on 12-12-12.  Neat
With the weather being nice the last couple of weeks, I've been really wishing I had it.  It is for the better that I get it next spring though, will be kind of fun getting the status updates

Would be great to have a coffee with you once I get it & we can do a comparo
