MX-5 update:
Now 5 (!) seasons of driving, at 31,000 km's
There is a good MX5 specialist shop that is a nice 40-45 minutes backroads drive away (Dave's Garage) that i got to do a fluids swap:
- LOF using Redline synthetic
- Redline 75w90 diff fluid
- Motorcraft manual trans fluid
This shop uses Redline and Motorcraft trans fluid, the Motorcraft was recommended based on my slightly notchy 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, so decided on that.
On the drive home the shift feel felt sharper, it snicks into each slot very nicely and noticed an improvement with the 1-2 and 2-3. Still a bit of reluctance on 3-2 downshifts so will see if that gets better with some time. Overall, a nice improvement but not night and day different since it wasn't terrible to begin with.
I read lots of good things about Amsoil, so can maybe give that a shot down the road
While talking with the shop owner, got to turbo and supercharger kits.... he has installed about a dozen supercharger kits that add about 100 reliable hp.
About $8K for the kit and $2K install.
That nugget is now firmly planted in brain... i still love the thing but this would make it feel all new again.
