This is likely the sweet spot in the Macan lineup.

Disagree.  The base "S" is the sweet spot in terms of value, of course, depending on what you value ;)

I'm talking from a performance aspect though.

I'm guessing that you value performance then ;)

Well, that is the point of the Macan.  :)

I agree with OliverD. The Macan is a nice vehicle regardless of trim, but the S' performance doesn't feel all that special.
I used to work here.

Well, that is the point of the Macan.  :)
I don't agree with that.  The point of the Macan is to boost sales by virtue of the CUV craze.  Performance is secondary to styling and the perception of increased ride height and winter prowess.

Performance is touted by journalists as being better than any CUV has the right to be, yet to the general buying public (like Lady No-san's now ex-internmate, who drove a loaded Porsche Macan Turbo ::)), it's more about status than it is performance.  I asked that guy why he sprung for the Turbo and not the "base" S.  His response was that the Turbo was more expensive and therefore made him look more opulent.  He never even tested the "base" engine.  He didn't buy it for value, however (unless you're referring to the semantic argument that he 'valued' position in society over all else, in which case I agree :)).

The Macan is not "about" performance.  It performs well in every iteration.

Note: Porsche issued a correction regarding an error in their pricing on 2017 Macans today, so the real prices will be:

"The 2017 Macan models will begin arriving in Canada early in the second quarter of 2016 with pricing starting at $59,200 for Macan S, $73,100 for Macan GTS, and $85,800 for the Macan Turbo."
Do I contradict myself?

Current prices on Porsche's site:

S $57,200
GTS $71,600
Turbo $83,400

Nice price hike on the GTS before it even gets here.  :P

I've seen some on the road, and well, it's a big meh to me in terms of looks.  Porsches should be distinctive - this blends in big time.

Yep. I think the F-Pace is ready going to stand out.

The quad LED lights are quite distinctive though.

And I'd argue that almost any car that is sold primarily in white/silver/grey/black will blend in.
