such different vehicles. cost wise, trailhawk is actually the way i would go... the only way to get these jeeps is either entry level (go for a stick sport, with the power group and ac for about 23k) or to go trailhawk without things like the leather or roof for 34. north, by the time you go for a few things, you are already at 32 or so and i'd say it has no more presence or fun factor than the base, without the look of the trailhawk...
Have you driven both Non-Trailhawk and Trailhawk versions?  I've only driven this loaded Trailhawk, and it wasn't particularly great to drive on the streets.  Is the North (or other trims) better?

The rubber alone will make it noisier, less crisp in transition, and add to stopping distances.

they're just wrangler sr-a tires... not like the trailhawk cherokee or rubicons or anything... a bit bigger, but not very aggressive tread. but yeah, they are a bit of a different ride.

forgot to mention... if you still have the jeep, try to find all the hidden "easter eggs"... like sasquatch, or the spider...

i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

hard to justify the price....I find the CX-3 to be at the right spot - you can get a decently equipped one for $27s.

The Renegade really checks all the boxes for a true 4X4:
- abysmal fuel mileage
- heavy
- noisy
- unrefined
- firm (harsh) ride
- short wheelbase with great 4X4 capability.

Seems like the Renegade is best considered by those looking for a capable 4X4 without regard for drivability and related factors. Problem is, this small niche of buyers have yet to be convinced that this vehicle is a real alternative to the other, very good choices in the marketplace. FCA have done a lot of things right, but this is a misstep in so many ways. Reminds me of the Patriot/Compass in that there is NO compelling reason to buy the vehicle.

Maybe lower entry cost, but maybe on par with post sale / post warranty ownership cost?

Wait I didn't read the review,  noisy firm ride,  unrefined?  Huh I didn't think that at all.

yeah.. everyone seems to take pre-conceived notions about the brand, then exaggerates things said in the review...

i mean, i don't love the thing... but it's not that bad in any of the respects that people seem to be bashing it... for example, pcsp, you drive a juke... direct competition with this. yours has less space, more polarizing looks, the weight (going from an auto awd juke to this) is around 200lbs, and the fuel consumption, while better, is countered (literally when using current prices) by the fact that it requires premium and i found them to be extremely comparable fit and finish wise as well as refinement...

like usual, they gave autos the most expensive model... not the prime tester for us to start picking apart.

I feel I must stand up to defend my Juke :)  Renegade is 400 lbs. heavier, fuel consumption is probably 30% better in the Juke (I regularly get between 7.5 and 8.5 combined), premium gas is about 6 cents/liter more expensive and doesn't have ethanol in it), I'll take the distinctive looks of the Juke anyday over the box that is the Renegade, space - I'll give you that one, I'll add 0-60 (not even close). I paid $26,000 plus change for the Juke. That being said, I believe the most compelling vehicle in this segment is the Mazda CX3, all things considered. Jeep performs better for the offroading crowd, but this will not drive sales. I won't say the Renegade will not last, because we still have the Patriot and Compass (Dead Men Walking).

price is the issue here....Jeep is off the mark by quite a bit. Worst part is that the 2016 model is even more expensive than the 2015! Hard to justify a $500 increase on a vehicle that is already overpriced.

Jeep is getting aggressive with its pricing. The price of a Wrangler Unlimited has risen $6500 since 2012. Of course sales are still up.

Always has been about 6 cents (for 91 octane):

Wow you are lucky.

In ontario it's 17-20 cents difference.  http://www.newfoundlandgasprices.com/Shell_Gas_Stations/Kanata/78321/index.aspx
