I'm not a fan of the looks of the truck, but that 5.0L Cummins with the 6-speed Aisin transmission will be a winner for sure.  This thing will no doubt easily compete with the 3/4 ton trucks from the Domestics.

If you've got a big trailer to tow, this will be a great option for the job.

Nicely done Nissan.  Now just need to add a 4 cylinder diesel to the Frontier and you'll have the best light duty pickup truck lineup in the biz.

Oh dear...let's hope the trophies are small ;D

I can't believe I just went along with saf's posts!   :rofl2:

There's still too many awards - I think it's time Autos.ca has its own award, too.  It can compete with this:

it's odd why the titan won.... according to what i have read, the ram rebel beat it by the slimmest of margins... the "luxury truck" category it won though... but not the category I think of when it comes to "truck of texas"...

http://www.texasautowriters.org/awards/truck-of-texas/2015

also, really surprised FCA hasn't been shoving all this up our butts here at the dealer level...

we won 9 of 17 categories... not too shabby... yet somehow, ford wins brand of texas without a win. i'm really not sure of some of their scoring... the xc90 came last among contenders in mid sized crossovers (even with the journey in there!), yet won cuv of texas... sure it scored highest of the luxury ones, but that (to me) doesn't negate the loss when compared to the big sellers.

whatever though... still think it's great to have more capable trucks to choose from. frightened on pricing though... still nothing available from what i see...

that 5.0L Cummins with the 6-speed Aisin transmission

Based on the history of these trucks, the fewer Nissan parts, the better.

Have you ever gone to the wineries in Niagara, where they all boast about all the awards they've won?

"Try this 2010 Chardonnay.  It won Silver at the 2014 annual wine festival.  It also won Bronze at the 2014 annual Niagara winemaker's convention.  It also won Gold at the annual fish-fry festival."

Too many awards dilute the benefit of winning.  I mean, sh!t, has anyone here actually tried half of these 'award' winning wines and found them even remotely drinkable?

No doubt the new Titan is incredible, but awards bug me a bit.

With that rant over and done with, I can see how a bunch of Texans choosing an import over the usual favourites will make quite a stir.

meh.. people will test whatever the companies give them... since their is no pricing announced, hopefully they didn't take any assumed pricing or value into consideration... but then again, how can you not take that kind of a thing into consideration? or else then only the most expensive cars will win every competition (you would hope at least... higher cost = higher quality in most cases)..

another note... just saw (i think) my first new xc90 on the roads... nice looking rig. didn't stand out much, so maybe i've seen another, but don't think so...
