Mazda3 so hot it catches fire...stop-sale order
« on: October 06, 2015, 09:41:31 am »
Seems a defective valve installed in about 15,000 units could leak fuel into the charcoal canister, which could cause a fire. Since uncontrolled combustion of a car produces nasty emissions, there will be a recall and a stop-sale has been ordered on affected vehicles:

I know someone who bought one of these because he was so disappointed in the whole VW diesel fudge and his TDI  :o

Plenty to say, but none of it nice.  Rather than being crucified for saying so, I will simply listen to Thumper's great advice (if not given with poor grammar).

Haha what the hell!!

Like I said in the other thread - my old, and now sold, MGB was both cleaner, and less likely to burst into flames, than my current stable of cars.

wow why so many Mazda haters? Other manufacturers have had way more recalls then Mazda 3. Corolla comes to mind and people even died. I do think that Mazda is doing this the right way and offering owners rentals. This and of course the rust that always comes up. I am driving one and my wife has a 5 and we never ever had any issues and unlike the Corolla they are fun to drive and not just an appliance. I had a Corolla for 4 years and hated every minute in that car, was so dull and ..... without soul (that's the word I was looking for) and I had it as a company car so wasn't my choice. Recalls happen and the main think is how manufacturers respond and in this case Mazda took ownership and did not wait for some regulating body to tell them to do it which is not always the case with other manufacturers.

Note hate, just facts (they really are having start-up issues at the Mexican plant), plus the irony of safety recalls flying way under the radar vs Dieselgate.

I'm just waiting for the day that Subaru has a major issue. They'll probably have to suspend posting after the forum loses its collective mind.  ;D

I thought the head gasket issue was fairly major.

80% then are Echo in Mexico, if not more. GTs are pretty rare.

Lol, hecho en Mexico. Anyways automobile manufacturing in Mexico has been a thriving industry for the last 20 years, and even more so now from many/most manufacturers and suppliers - http://www.automotivemeetings.com/mexico/index.php/en/automotive-industry-in-mexico

Haters are gonna hate.

This hater loves Mazdas, just not its decision to relocate manufacturing.

Can't argue economic reality as the other manufacturers setting up, or already there, can attest. The 'perceived' quality issue is just that and selective imo.
