The CC is a nice car but it's in dire need of an update. I know that a replacement is on the way (there was a concept that hinted strongly at the design direction).

I think it would also be more competitive in Canada if they offered AWD. Right now it's occupying that same sort of area where the Nissan Maxima fits: FWD only, questionable value when compared to a regular midsize sedan, sporty but not particularly so, careful not to step on the luxury brand it's related to... It's a bit of an awkward fit.

I know what I would pick and it wouldn't be the veedub.

There is probably more cash on VW now with the diesel cheat..I believe they saw a 20% decrease in sales in canada last month recently

If you want a '15 CC they are advertising them with $7-8k off.

The CC just looks so old in design, wouldn't even hit my radar map if I were in the market for large sedan.
What would be in order of preference:
Genesis
Lexus ES/GS
Avalon
Maxima
300C (long shot)
none of the Ford products interest me

Loved this vechile when it first came out.  I think it was better looking then too.  I'm not a fan of that newer front end they put on a couple of years ago.  The interior got worse as well by making the back seat a bench instead of the two bucket seats they had before.  The exterior design is still very good but the interior needs to be updated.  I really don't like the brushed metal trim pieces, there's just too much of it.

I'm okay with them getting rid of the V6 but it's too bad they don't offer AWD with the 2.0T (if you opted for the V6 you automatically got the AWD or at least that's the way it was back in 2010 when I was looking at them).

It's an identity problem, along with cannibalization of sales. Nissan experienced it (and still does) with the Maxima and Altima. BIG mistake on VW's part to a.) go more conservative with the CC's appearance and, b.) get rid of the upscale motor, the V6. Very odd they would retain it in the downscale Passat.  My advice to them is get rid of the CC. It now serves no useful purpose.

I never liked the looks of the CC and it certainly isn't practical.   I much prefer the newly styled proper European 4 door SEDAN.

I wouldn't even call the CC a large sedan.

It was positioned to be "executive styled" and perceived to be "large" when launched, power creep from the competition has relegated it to mid-sized and "merely meh".

Agree on all fronts.  That $7,000 off still doesn't bring it into the realm of my interests, as I can get a loaded accord coupe with the V6 for that money.

AWD used to be offered with the 3.6 up to last year - only issue is that it was a similar price as an A4 Quattro.  I only know one person who drove one and bought it as a company car, picked it over the A4 only because he was told that it couldn't be a flashy marque.  VW is fine, Audi was a no go, even ignoring price

Anything that is hard to get in and out of really rubs me the wrong way.  If the car is sporty or very compact, fine and dandy but for a large mid-size to have restrictive access, that is unforgivable.

The problem gets much more severe if you are standing on 4 or 5 inches of snow and wearing a heavy coat.  How do you build a large car that is hard to get into and how do Germans engineer a car of any size that is a tight fit for someone 5'9".    The Scirocco of old couldn't accommodate an average sized German male.  What is their target market??

I thought we'd be past these limitations in 2015.  Apparently not.

I didn't find it difficult to get into the CC - front or back - and I'm just over six feet tall.

Me too.

My hunch? Image conscious people would rather buy an inexpensive MB/Audi/BMW than an expensive VW.
