^ $6B per year investment scheduled, Tesla to focus on scaling for growth and yet maintain current marginal level of profit.

Been thinking about getting a Tesla for a while. Especially my wife thinks it be best, for nature and stuff. I like the looks of it, but am not that convinced of the driving feeling, because its so quiet  ;D

Traded away a 350HP+ SUV for our Tesla Model S, the performance and smoothness of power delivery is different, in a good way.

Owned several 300HP+ performance cars and loved the noise, but the Tesla is in a different category, like merging the silence of a grand touring car with the power of a muscle car...

For a daily driver, pretty nice.  My wife went from sceptic to fan quickly.

I know some think EVs make a whirring sound, but ours is silent.

https://www.torquenews.com/1083/tesla-owners-are-buying-toyota-rav4-prime-plug-hybrids-here-s-why

Well, they'll need to get in line, Toyota sold out the meagre few thousand that came to North America.

Meanwhile Tesla Model Y sales are estimated to be 50K in the last 3 months of 2020:

I like the RAV4 prime concept for Toyota, makes use of much of their superior hybrid technology, sadly, Toyota isn't producing many of them.

Yep Toyota is struggling to make batteries - sure looks like they have to balance between hybrid, PHEV and the paltry EVs they offer.

Model Y RWD (range 393 km) now available for order...  https://www.tesla.com/en_ca/modely/design#battery
"Model Y Standard Range is expected to qualify for electric vehicle incentives in Quebec and British Columbia and is currently pending approval"

...  since now there is a Mach-e coming in Canada  :P, I guess they'll try to squeeze in to fit into the Federal $5K incentive program with 7 seats as an option (?)

Model Y standard range $54,900 (just a tad under $55K)  8)
https://www.tesla.com/en_CA/support/incentives

But it is NOT showing up yet on https://tc.canada.ca/en/road-transportation/innovative-technologies/zero-emission-vehicles/list-eligible-vehicles-under-izev-program

" To be eligible for the Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles program, you have to purchase or lease:

a vehicle with six seats or fewer, where the base model (trim) Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is less than $45,000;
higher priced versions (trims) of these vehicles, up to a maximum Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $55,000, will also be eligible for purchase incentives;
Or

a vehicle with seven seats or greater, where the base model Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is less than $55,000;
higher priced versions (trims) of these vehicles, up to a maximum Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $60,000, will also be eligible for purchase incentives;
You will still be eligible for the incentive even if delivery, freight and other fees, such as vehicle colour and add-on accessories, push the actual purchase price over these set limits.

^^ If I’m interpreting the above right, the 5 seater model does not qualify for the $5000 Federal incentive because the base price is greater than $45k.

But are you saying that with the $4000 seven seat option, it would qualify because it’s a seven seater? If so, of the $5000 federal incentive, $4000 goes to Tesla and $1000 to the buyer.
I love it when a plan comes together.

I have the same reading as you for now but who knows for sure until it has been clarified...

After buyer paid in full, taxes included for eligible vehicle, later he/she'll cash back the $5K Federal incentive, not Tesla but I understand what you mean.

that's the way I read it. so you are paying 1k bucks for a useless 3rd row.

Actually, you’d be getting $1000 for the useless seats (net net).

Wait, if the base price is higher than 55k then the 7 seater doesn’t get the fed tax break either?  So when they made the base price of the 2 row over 55k they negated the tax break for the 3 row as well.

Yes, I think that’s probably right, otherwise you get this weird dynamic of the 7 seater costing less than the 5 seater after the federal rebate.

have you guys seen the 3rd row of the Model Y?  It's basically a death zone made for Santa's elves or the shrimpkins from wizard of oz.   it's just redonculous that this is allowed to be passed safety imo.

Quite cramp but no surprise here, small children seats.
