Ford Mustang Mach-E vs Tesla Model 3, Model Y - Tesla's Still King
by Engineering Explained

Tesla is still King for efficiency no contest, but that efficiency comes at a price, less control on snow. With the winters we have, not sure the Tesla is really better.

My Spark EV weight distribution was an almost perfect 50/50, lot of fun and easy control on snow but definitely not enough traction with weight transfer to rear wheels...
I told myself my next EV would be either RWD or AWD. I can't speak for the Mach-e, I only tried once the Model 3 AWD on wet surface but a lot of traction, can't have it sliding as you want. Maybe the Mach-e is more fun in the snow if you have more "latitude" on slippery surface, who knows?
Gone but not forgotten in chronological order: 2019 Volt, 2013 Volt, 2014 Spark EV, 2012 Volt and many others before...

I sure hope so too! We had bad news in Quebec yesterday. The $8000 provincial subsidy is not applicable anymore on the Mach-E Premium AWD ER.  :P

damn.   too bad for you.  ford came out with a great product but they seem to completely ignore the requirements for getting the Fed EV rebate. they just need to come out with a stripper version to let the higher versions be eligible.  you know, no stereo, no ac, 14 inch wheels....

base trim needs to be 44,999.  then all other trims up to 55k would be covered.  so ford makes the base trim a little over 50k and the next trim is 58k.....    holy guys.  anybody home?

A couple of things.

First, Canada isn't a Top 10 car market...so they likely won't go too much out of their way for us.

Second:  They probably put the MSRP where it is so they wouldn't take a bath or lose tons of money on every one sold...or best avoiding that...unlike Tesla.  Ford won't be able to sell EVs for decade while losing billions.  They've said it would be "immediately" profitable...so that's likely why the MSRP is where it is.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

False.

Tesla profit will vastly exceeded Ford in 2020, Ford predicted mid year they will have a loss for 2020, Tesla will absolutely post record profits for Q4 2020, making it 6 straight profitable quarters.  Profit margin on their brand new factory Model Y builds (it's a separate building from Model 3 factory) in China is reported at 30%.

It's not false.  Tesla has cumulative losses of BILLIONS.  And as always, thank goodness for credits!!    :rofl2:

Ford's 2020 Q3 was $2.3 Billion net profit.  Tesla's Q3 was $331 Million on the back of credits.

We'll see how Q4 and then total year shakes out....But yes, Ford had predicted a loss for the year.

My point is...Ford doesn't want to go the Tesla route of losing billions on an EV product for multiple years on end.

I totally agree with you're assessment rrocket, but I have to say it's crazy that ford has completely ignored some kind of strategy to collect those EV credits in Canada.  The "base" model is there just to qualify the other levels of trim for the EV giveaways.  I really don't think anybody buys the base model 3 but they sell quite a few of the other trim levels because they come with a 5k dollar discount.

May Ford rethink their Canadian marketing strategy if this segment starting to be busy..?

Don't confuse "Rebate" or "Incentive" with the "Credit" scheme...if that's what you meant.  They aren't the same thing....as it pertains to Canadian sales.

But yea..I'm guessing Ford has done the math and concluded it's best to do it the current way.  And since it's the first Gen, I'm also guessing they'll make the bigger premiums off the more expensive trims, then add cheaper trims later..or for a 2nd Gen release.

Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach the man to fish and he wakes you up at 5 in the morning.

Who the heck rents out a Tesla Y? I can't imagine having to deal with scratched rims and things much worse if you do it long enough.
