Interesting. GCBC stats tell that Chrysler/Fiat/Ram/Jeep as the best selling brand in Canada, a far different story in the US.

Canucks really like them I guess....

I'm a little surprised the Forester didn't rank higher.

As for the JGC....It's Canada.  Small cars (read cheaper) always outsell the larger ,more expensive stuff.
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

Can't believe the Highlander is not on the list.

good point! it seems like the only full size CUV that made the list is the Explorer...

Is it fair to say the Escape would not be #1 if it wasn't for the discounts\incentives?

Is it fair to say you wouldn't be as tall as you are if it wasn't for your height?

Probably.  Avg. incentive for Ford is around $2,700 USD.

So I guess nobody makes the distinction between between SUVs, CUVs and crossovers these days?

Anything with a hatchback and a ride height higher than a Miata is an SUV now? ???

We don't have that many SUVs left...this category would even get to 20 if they were to count.

Escapes everywhere around here. Even that new Lincoln Escape is gaining some ground, I see them quite often now.

Explorers are quite common too, but seems every one I see have a fleet plate. Ford must of had a big fleet-Explorer sale in Alberta.

I know, which is why I was surprised by the headline.

Just for fun, I can think of the following actual SUVs that are still available (at least, I think they're all still available): Yukon/Tahoe/Suburban, Expedition, 4Runner, LX570, Sequoia, Xterra, Armada, QX80... maybe even Touareg/Cayenne and whichever Range Rover? Does FIATCO still make the Durango? And I suppose the Grand Cherokee qualifies as well...

Lexus GX460 and Jeep Wrangler. Xterra is done for '16.

I guess it depends on how you're defining SUVs. A few of the ones you mention are unibody but obviously quite capable. But so is an Explorer, sort of.

Cord, what's your opinion of the Ford (and other MNFRs) strategy of inflated MSRP, then lots of cash on the hood?  I'm definitely not a fan, but I' doubt that I am Ford's target audience (despite having owned an F150, and a Focus wagon).  But does that strategy help boost Ford sales, more than a lower price/lower incentive strategy would?

As for the SUV vs CUV question, it's always confusing.  Especially when the previous differentiator (BOF vs unibody) gets switched between versions of the same nameplate (i.e., Pathfinder, Explorer).  My personal litmus test for a true SUV - is it based on RWD, with 4WD or AWD optional?  Instead of a FWD-starting point, which I'd call a CUV.  So I'd call a Durango (unibody, but RWD-based) an SUV, but a Highlander/Pathfinder/Explorer (unibody, but FWD-based) a CUV.  Not that my definition makes any more sense than any other!

That's actually a pretty good point.
