Wow, anyone who doesn't think that car colour, trim, and wheels make a difference in aesthetics needs to look at the pictures in this thread.

Mazda 2 sedan in soul red, with nice alloys, and decent (though not great) front end styling?  Good looking small sedan?

Same exact vehicle (Yaris), with steelies, plain white, and a massive underbite front end? Terrible aesthetics - to me, at least.

Not entirely feeling the front end on this "Yaris" or any new TMC product lately.

TMC took too large of leap from boring to brash and fell on their face. (as evident by the front of most of their new cars)

I see yet another manufacturer has subscribed to the "Darth Vader mask" school of grille design.  See Mitsubishi for examples.   :hurl:

That being said, it does sound like a great little package and for a top end price of $20 K, very easy on the wallet.

It will no doubt do well urban areas.

Lol.  Actually, it doesn't look too bad in that colour.

It's a nice car. But the pricing is out of whack.

$16,995 for a base model Yaris? You can get the Yaris' bigger half sibling Mazda 3 starting from $15,995.  Mind you, the Yaris has A/C standard (good move) and the 3 doesn't, still.

Nothing new, though.  I walked into the Toyota dealership with my parents to help them buy a Yaris.  Then they saw for $800 more, they could get a Corolla and thought "no brainer".  That was back in 2010.

...but to offer the Yaris in base at a higher price than the Corolla base, and the Yaris has literally nothing better?  That's nuts.  Absolutely nuts.

The car reminds (of course) the donor Mazda2. the only ugly portion of the body is this mad front grill leftover from the previous generation wide open Mazda's mouth...

Not saying the Yaris is better but they are far from being equipped the same here's two examples I noticed, a/c is optional on the Corolla CE which is $17,865, push-button start you have to go to the Corolla S to get that at $19,780, probably quite a few other differences I suspect.

If you're going to add freight and PDI to the Corolla, you should add it to the Yaris as well... The Yaris is $18,865 in that case. But yes, the Yaris has A/C standard while the Corolla does not.

I did not, they are not included in the prices I stated, take another look at the Toyota website.

hmmm... we have reached out to Toyota check, but frankly, 139 lb-ft seems a bit far fetched...

My old Peugeot 106 had 51 HP, and about the same torque!  Loved it.

Who is responsible for this monstrosity?  A little public shaming is in order I think...

A lot of Japanese styling is on a big losing streak these days...

In pics at least, I think it looks hideous!  What is it with a number of manufacturers now with the overly HUGE predator type front?  It seems to be a bad trend that is getting horribly overplayed now.
