Mighty good looking Malibu.  Definitely a better redesign than the new Passat or Altima.

Any word on what "L" comes standard with besides airbags? AC, auto, seat heaters, power windows? Strange choice of the base engine I must say. 2.0 NA would do the trick just fine without added complexity, or better the same 2.5 as in the LS trim, given the size of the car.

A decent change, but not a head turner in it's class.  I will be looking forward to a test drive with both engines...

It will run like a bag of sh*t.  Resale values will remain in the toilet.  Avis et al are breathing easy.  Mission completed.

Looks a bit like a Chrysler 200
I don't see it at all.

200

Malibu

Yep, still don't.  They both follow a somewhat similar profile of a sedan.  I guess you can lump most midsize sedans into the group.

My wife owns a 200, and I agree - looks quite a lot like it. I think what Careener and I are both reacting to is the overall shape of the car. The rounded front end, the upswept trunk, the way the C Pillar/glass is done. The most significant difference between the two cars when viewed in profile is the creasing...

Not a criticism though. Unlike many, I find the 200 to be the most attractive midszie sedan. Part of the reason we bought it...

I think the 200 might actually edge out the Malibu in terms of looks.  Guess we'll have to wait and see how that arse looks in person - but it's kind of droopy looking.  Something...can't put my finger on it exactly.  Do like the front end of the 'bu though.  And the 200 at least has a V6 as an option...and AWD...and they will probably both depreciate like stone.

Seems like that LT trim is the sweet spot in terms of pricing...unless heavy option packages are needed to get some decent stuff on it.  Still amazed that the L is coming without backup camera standard - I thought the US made it a requirement on all new models (at some point?).  Does this mean the L is a Canada-only spec?

Backup camera must be standard on vehicles by 2018.

Just because something is mandated in the U.S. doesn't mean the Canadian model will be equipped the same. After airbags were federally mandated in the U.S. some Canadian cars were still sold without them, despite the same cars being sold south of the border with them.

Note what my actual question was with respect to the L trim...

I know what your actual question was. My point was that if the L is sold in the U.S. it might have a camera there but not here.

I wasn't trying to answer your question, just pointing out that it is irrelevant.  :P

It's relevant to me, and therefore not irrelevant.
