A more successful and sophisticated design than the ridiculous Maxima.

As always a great looking car....too bad about the snowmobile CVT on the 3.5 V6, such a waste of a great engine.
Lighten up Francis.....

While it looks great, it's following in Nissan's current plans to update the interior/exteriors while leaving the powertrains sorely lacking (i.e. Murano is weak compared to its competition by at least 40hp, Sentra is way short of everything but the Corolla now, Rogue...ugh - don't even get me started).

That screen though...looks so small:

What do you need a big screen for?? The controls for the radio are on the steering wheel and, thank god, its got honest to goodness HVAC controls you do not have to screw around with the screen for those.

The Maxima will have the shelf life of a Top-40 song.

This is better, but a bit fussy up front. Interior looks the same, so the new car looks like an update, really. Not that anything was wrong with the Altima's interior - the all-black one is classy.

2015's are 19,995$ and up, not a bad deal. Sadly, no diesel option.

I think they pushed fussy to the right level...just shy of too far. Lexus has set the bar on fussy front ends.

I don't get the fascination with stuffing an Ipad into the dashboard of cars. I need to know the station I am on....thats it. Navigation will always be by either a phone or stand alone GPS unit so I want the Ipad to do the least amount of things so that when it inevitably craps out, it wont take out my HVAC system and cost thousands of dollars to replace. Oh, and here, before Sir O gets on me  ;D :

Yeah, this is definitely a mid-cycle refresh rather than a clean design.  Which is good.  I find the current (5th gen) Altima to be as boring as a peanut shell.  This refresh adds some curves to what is otherwise a pretty solid vehicle.  This is the thing about the Altima:  It is never the 'best' at anything, but it's also never the worst.  It's always been a solid mid-pack offering.  It's best feature (at least with the 4 - 4.5 gen) is the styling, which was lost with the 2013 model.  I'm glad to see it regain some of its mojo.  As for the powertrain, well you either love the CVT or you hate it.  If you hate it, this car isn't for you.  As far as the V6 is concerned, the take rate is probably in the single digit percentage range, so it doesn't really matter too much.

And with regards to the screen, well, Honda put a giant honking screen in their 2016 Accord and did away with much of the knobs and manual controls.  People hate it.  So Nissan goes the safe route, puts in a smaller screen but leaves the conventional control, and people still find a reason to complain?  Come on.

There is such a thing as a happy medium, y'know...

And don't you have to change your descriptor?  "No-san's #1 Badger"?

Actually, the CVT seems to work a lot better on the V6s versus the 4 bangers.

Lol.  True.  What if they made a manual CVT (I.E. one with a slider so you could adjust the ratio)?
