Auto design is becoming easier. Take the 3D model file of the Sonata and scale it down by 10-15% <BAM> New Elantra, lets go for lunch!

Honda did the same thing, albeit in reverse dimensions for the new Pilot...it looks exactly the same as the CRV, but bigger.

This seems to work better on the Elantra than with the Sonata. Previous Sonata was a looker, new one looks like an anonymous Chinese cab. So bland... Wonder if sales are down? I don't see a lot of them.

I agree.  I haven't seen a lot of the new Sonatas on the road.. probably because Hyundai hasn't started with their heavy promotions yet.

I am the exact opposite  ::) I think the new one (Sonata) looks more grown up, more elegant.

Ditto. I never liked the previous style, if I'm honest. Sales of the new one have been strong, but the segment is dying. Buyers are shifting to CUVs.

Lady Noto's uncle is very frugal.  He owned an Accord forever, until someone walking on his street gave him a cold offer of $5,000 cash for his then-14 year old car.  Uncle replaced the Accord with a Sonata (2011, IIRC), and absolutely loves it.

His wife's 2003 Corolla was getting a bit long in the tooth for her, so he wanted her to get a new Sonata.  He drove it and hated it.  It's just an odd move - nobody asked for the Sonata to be more grown up, or elegant.  The first adopters of the "fluidic" whatever loved the edginess.  He now says that he'd rather go for a Camry because it's "sportier looking".

Never thought I'd hear that one.

Saw the new Tucson at the Kelowna airport this morning in the departures area.  It looks incredible, but the tiny window glass is an instant "no" for me.  I could barely see out of the thing.

Sport pedals FTW (with an automatic)  :P   ... and don't expect anything bigger than a 1.6T under the hood. But I love the design inside and out and hope some other manufacturer known for its cars' quality and reliability will learn a lesson here.

Same sausage, different size.  Kind of like the A3/A4/A6/A8.

Well considering the head designer for Hyundai came from Audi, it's no surprise.
