Don't be fooled by the chrome ' the Silverado chews up rough terrain and spits it out.

"I’m not a big fan of GM seats, especially truck ones as the support is minimal",

I find what you call support in a seat I call a pain in the hip,
I also want to rip off the chrome on this truck and get colour mirror caps

14.3 is pretty good, in 2011 5.3L, driving on the hiway I am avg around 14.7 and the only time I see it go into v4 is going downhill

Does it go into v4 at red lights or stops?

Nice review. I really like this truck, and I was surprised at the efficiency of the 6.2L/8 speed; I averaged 12.8L in a similar truck (GMC version) a few weeks ago, mostly empty rush hour GTA commuting and one loaded cross town drive.

AB, no, it doesn't go into V4 at stops, only while moving.

I wonder why not ?
Does the Chevy have lined wheel wells like the GMC ?
12.8 wow , I would like to see what the 5.3 would get with an 8 speed

I'm surprised the Coleman Mesa doesn't have trailer brakes.  My dad has a Coleman tent trailer (can't recall the model) and it has electric brakes.  You do require an electric brake controller in your vehicle and do have to adjust the dial to make it work well in concert with the vehicle brakes.

$930 for a tonneau cover!  :o :fall:  Was it one of those solid ones that lifts like a trunk lid, or a soft rollup kind?  Yeesh...that hurts! And it doesn't even make it any faster!

Not a big fan of them Chevy's, but that actually looks ok all black.  I'm ok with the chrome too, at least it's not over-done. Door handles, bug guard on the hood, window vent things (those things that let you open the window in the rain so you can "smoke", whatever they're called - ugly as hell anyway), that horrible chrome rocker guard stuff...this is subdued to some of the people around here.

I paid $800 for my cover. Tri fold hard one.  Toyota dealer wanted $1300 for the same one and they source it from the exact same shop I went and picked mine up.

Great review....cant believe that little tent trailer weighed that much though. This is the truck I would buy if I wanted a 1/2 ton, well, maybe in a GMC, because I like the front end better, but this trim level, this powertrain, I think its the definite winner. You can keep your Ecoboosts and your Ecodiesels and crap, V8 FTMFW!!!!
Lighten up Francis.....

Little?   The thing is as long as the truck when folded.   It's pretty big.   Add water and two propane tanks and I can see the weight.

Its a tent trailer, just seems like a lot of weight. At 4000lbs, thats very well into proper trailer category.

I guess Im still with the thought that a tent trailer should be well under 2000lbs and cost about $10k at the absolute most brand new.....

I see there is an air conditioning unit on the tent trailer. That's the spirit!

Nice truck. That tester must be priced pretty close to the GMC Denali.

What kind of engine revs that 8 speed/3.23 combo makes on the highway?  Must be little more than idle.  I'd save the $2700. for the 6.2 and go for the 5.3 with a 3.73.  That would be a much more useful combination for normal driving and towing.

For towing the 6.2 is a much better engine, makes way more power than the 5.3 without having to rev the ever loving bejesus out of it.

For heavy towing it definitely is but not too many folks pull 10-12000 lbs.

Even with 6-8000lbs, the 6.2 would have to work much less harder to move the unit from a stop and to keep it going down the highway.
