Have either of you actually driven a Corolla? Fack, try driving a 3.1L V6 1998 Buick Century at elevation FFS.  I got into the RX400h at the airport this morning (I landed at 6am) and had to seriously slow down.  Then driving the 2010 Corolla to work?  I was practically flying.  These cars aren't slow.  The 1.6L in the Kia/Hyundai products is NOT the superior engine between itself and the little 2ZR-FE.

I have plus a Matrix and Vibe andd all of then were slow.
Compared to a 2009 GTI?  For sure.

My comment wasn't pointed at you :P

I have driven the Corolla and it is slow....painfully at times. The CVT helps....sort of sometimes. Every car in its class has better performance from their base engines or at least have an option to a much better performance engine. The Corolla and the iM are good appliances nothing more nothing less. The new Civic looks interesting as do its powertrains, proving that you can't (and shouldn't) rest on your name forever.
