I think you under estimate the value. Even a high mileage beat down Miata is worth something. And it sure looks good now.

johngenx When I'm done with this car  it probably won't be worth much. There's 188,000km on it now. Maybe a candidate for  a V8 though. ;D

I bet you either lose nothing or very little.  Well, unless you beat it to death, that is!

And a V-8, is, of course, super sweet!

I tend to keep all the maintenance up to date. People that know me sometimes ask why am  I spending  so much time preserving the car for the next owner. :o

You're probably right. I think if they are rust free to  it helps .

Rust free examples plain don't depreciate, at least not in the last few years.  I really lucked out when I bought mine - and at the time I felt like I was overpaying.  I've been offered $2500-$4000 over what I paid for mine quite a few times.  A friend from the club recently sold his 320K 1990 that needed some attention to a few things for $3500 in one day - and I bet he could have got more had he been a bit more patient.

A little bored today because it's raining again. >:(
So decided to clean up the miata engine bay a bit. Put a shine on the chrome valve cover .
Mileage now sits at 203 k. Would not hesitate to drive across Canada in this car.

The thought has crossed my mind to do this eventually. Could go most anytime really as I retired recently.
That would also take this miata back to it's roots. It was originally a BC car.

I still have a case of Miata love.  The cars are so well made - mine turns 23 next month and I too would not hesitate to go on a 5000km road trip.

My 951 is 31yrs old & I have no issues or fears with a long road trip! I went Ottawa -Toronto & back at least 3 times last summer with it, which is 1000kms plus round trip.

I love roadtrips, and I love them even more with old cars! We're planning a good trip for September; Toronto to Memphis and back with a few stops and detours along the way. Roughly it'd work out to about 4000kms. Front runner for vehicle choice right now is the 85 Trans Am  :)

After some pondering I decided to sell the Smurf to reduce the fleet a bit. I told myself I would only part with it if I got my asking price.
Was able to just do that in this crazy market . Had it for 7 years and 50,000 km's. At least  it went to good home to an owner that wouldn't stance it.
So long Smurf.  :'(

Aww man, she was a beautiful car. Good to hear it isn't going to some flat brim fetus that will stance the thing, that would be tragic.
Lighten up Francis.....

That’s a bit sad but at least you got your price and it went to a good home.  50,000kms were likely pretty memorable as well.

Good time to sell for sure. Props on finding it a good home.
